Seriously, right?!?! I am re-doing that wiring this weekend. The sore thumb aspect of it has always annoyed me. At the time, I was just in a rush to get it back on the road. | ||

I'm always excited when I find places to use my big pile of "non black" zip ties that aren't on any of my bikes. I'll never use up that pile... ... But if it takes a white zip tie to ride that day, then I'll embrace my inner redneck and git-r-done. These 08 and up XT's seem to be holding up really well. | ||

For the record, it is an X. WITH side cases I had from a previous 06 X. Thanks for the kind words! I redid the wring this weekend, complete with black zip ties. So it basically is a new bike....  | ||

About the wiring redo...the original VR and stator gave up the ghost at about 50k. Both were replaced with a kit from Roadster Cycle (class act, Jack is). The kit wiring was kinda bungled by me, as I spliced in some extra length. I was never happy with how it looked and always suspected there was more resistance than need be. So I had Jack send me out cabling with the correct length and put it all in last weekend. At idle, two headlights on, heated grips going, it shows two greens on the voltmeter. Smashing, baby. Somebody needs to get past the high mileage, and recognize that this thing has an oiling system HD motor owners could only fantasize about for 100 years, and focus on the price and buy this thing. I can't imagine how somebody couldn't get $4000 of crazy fun out of this thing easily. | ||

I am glad it went to a good home. My bike deserves an enthusiast. Aaron and his girl were great to meet and work with. I sent them off with some Uly goodies that were buried in a bin in the garage. Their trip back sounded fun as balls! | ||

We couldn't have been more pleased with the whole transaction. Not only is Mark a standup guy that took the time to walk us through everything he knew about the bike but he came back from his garage with a whole load of unexpected Buell goodies to go with it! The bike was exactly how he described it and I honestly felt bad separating him from it, as I watched him ride up from his last time out on it, but assured him it would be loved and appreciated just as if it had never left his care. Thanks again Mark, I hope our paths cross again in the not too distant future.  | ||
