Is #2 the Triple Tail Backpack? If so, I thought I'd responded that I'd take it. May have been a different thread. If it's the Triple Tail . . . just let me know how you'd like paid. |

Court, The triple tail bag is definitely yours. You did respond on my thread on the 'vehicle' forum, which I posted to by mistake. My wife checked shipping through Fedex and the USPS and both are a tad over $15. It weights 4lbs. 9ozs. Is there a way to pay through PayPal w/o them taking a commission? Afsoc, Shipping the 5.5 lb. box is $13.60. The total would be $83.60. They are really nice quality bags. Same question as Courts on PayPal commission. If that can be done PayPal would be good. I've never done it though. |

Buellerxt, I need to back out. Thought these would fit my Juniors but apparently they are actually different and will not fit. As to the Paypal fee, Gifts are not charged the paypal fee, but you technically can't ask for that/// wink wink |

You can send me your paypal e-mail address and I can send the $115 as a gift or . . . . as guys maybe often do . . you can send me your address and I can throw a check in the mail. I'm flexible. |

I can vouch for Mike. For his integrity, his obsessive (in a good way) attention to accuracy and clarity and maintaining his stuff, and his outstanding attention to detail in completing transactions. And his awesome wife, who runs the IT department. He gave me a triple tail bag also, which is currently drying in the garage right now. The XT he sold me has a tail hard bag, so this soft bag will actually be a much better fit for my other Uly, which just has side bags. So I guess I'll just have to go fix that one instead of parting it out. |

Guys, I apologize for posting these bags on both the vehicles and accessory forums. I mistakenly posted first on the vehicle forum and then when I later checked to see my ad on the accessory forum, and didn't see it, I figured that I had not completed the posting and I posted it there. Sorry for the double post. I just got back in from a ride and received a number of PM's. I wish I had more bags so you could all get what you want. I'm going to go with the one who pm'd me first with an 'I'll take them' vs. 'interested' message. I have pm'd that person to confirm the deal, with shipping cost. If that person decides against the deal I'll contact the next person. As for the triple tail bag, that goes to Court since he said "I'll take it" right away. If Court changes his mind I will let you know. Thank you all for your patience. I'll stay on this until done now. |

Appreciate it gents. Speaks volumes of the members of this forum. I'm still interested in the soft bags. I don't know where I rack n stack. I was interested in the tail bag and the soft bags. Court was on the tail bag 1st and after reading more about it, it won't work for me. DAve |

Dave wasn't first, Matt, and this is disappointing. I just rushed to UPS before closing so you would get them at the soonest. I hope you keep them. You definitely should. You were the first to say you wanted to buy them. I wrote a David, not Dave, who expressed interest today, after you, and others who expressed interest, I explained that I had a number of people who showed interest and I was going to go with the first person who said "I will buy them" vs. "I am interested". I also told those folks that if no. 1 changed their mind I'd go to no. 2, etc. Dave sent me a pm last night that said, "I'm interested in the Ulysses bags. Insides and tail bag. Photos? No commitment at all. I wrote him back and told him that photos are available on the internet. I have not heard back from him after that. He did not get back to me today! You were the first to say you would buy them. They are yours. David, not Dave, was no. 2 and in my pm to him I told him that, nicely, told him I wished I had several so everyone could get one, and told him that if the first guy, you, changed your mind I'd contact him. Dave never got back to me after I responded last night so I figured he dropped out. It is disappointing that Dave then chose to write what he did after not getting back to me and never saying he wanted to buy them. Court told me right away, as you did, "I'll buy it", so the bag is his, and the three bags are yours. (Message edited by BuellerXT on July 15, 2016) (Message edited by BuellerXT on July 15, 2016) |

>>>>There is a story on this bag and it includes you! Indeed . . . and there is a story, as you may recall, about how the Buell Triple Tail Backpacks came to be. It's a great story and I needed to have a new one in my collection for when it comes time to start writing the next book. Thanks for your quick response. Court |

You are very welcome, Court, and I appreciate your reminding me of the bags history in your pm this afternoon. How about sharing it here for all to see and know. I wrote above that there is a story and it includes you because of that history AND because I distinctly remember reading a post from you here on Badweb about 7 years ago in which you detailed the quality of the bag and the story behind it. That post got me interested and I bought two, a spare is always good, one of which Reepicheep is using on the UlyXT he just bought from me, after I used it on the bike for 7 years(!), and one of which is brand new, still in the original box, and is with UPS headed to your home in NY! Thank you for that post 7 years ago. It is a versatile, high quality bag, as evidenced by the great condition of the one on Reepicheeps Uly after 7 years of continual use. I did have the part that fits over the triple tail strengthened but the rest is original and in very good condition. |

Dave, I'm sorry things worked out as they did. I responded to your pm last night and am sorry it didn't get to you. I don't understand that. I wish I had more bags to send to everyone who responded. I was surprised by the interest. Keep watching the classifieds and I hope you get what you'd like, and soon. I apologize for my double post over on the vehicle forum too. That wasn't cool and might have impacted things. Thanks for your post, Dave. Mike |

Dave, Mike gave me his other triple tail backpack when he sold me the bike. I thought they were cool when I first heard of them, and it is a nicely executed piece of gear. Lots of attention to detail. But using it on the trip home from Houston I think it fills a niche that I have filled with other luggage options to solve other problems. So I was already struggling to see how I would use it. So I'll sell you Mike's other bag if you want. Mike sold the new in box one for $100, this one is used with a little sun fading. The original part that goes over the triple tail had started to separate from the rest of the bag, so Mike took it to an upholsterer he knew and had it professionally repaired. The repair looks great and I suspect it is stronger than stock at this point. I'll be happy to go shoot pictures later this weekend if you would like. So you can have Mikes triple tail backpack if you want one. $75 and I'll pay for ground shipping in the continental US. |

>>>it is a nicely executed piece of gear. Lots of attention to detail. That's a fact. It is unique in the world of Buell in that it was a "class project" in entrepreneurship by the local East Troy Hig School. Some students came to Bruce Champion and wanted to research a product, determine a need, design a product, engineer it, produce it and market it. Bruce was the corporate mentor and the result of their efforts were the Triple Tail Back Pack. I have about every Buell item ever made . . . including some of the early M2 "computer sleeve seat attachments" and the Triple Tail Back Pack is beyond amazing in terms of build quality and functionality. I carry one everyday . . . primarily due to it's massive volume, well thought out design and durability. Mine carries cameras, survival gear for work (strobes, radio beacon and air horns" as well as batteries and a couple LaCie ruggedized 4TB hard drives and the more you beat on it the better the thing performs. It really performs amazingly well and I am proof that they are really tough to destroy. By the way . . . .most the Buell stuff had crummy zippers and I, like Mike, have become good friends with the local shoemaker who has put new (and more robust) zippers in most my Buell stuff. The worst, in terms of cheaply built, is the little Ulysses under-seat storage packet. The idea is nice . . . it appears to have been made for about $3,00 judging from the quality. The zipper on mine ripped out the first time I used it. I had it rebuilt to my personal specs and am happy with it. |

No problem! The top box is a nice solution. I went without one for a long time with my first Uly, and now that I have one on the XT, it is following the same pattern as before with hard luggage... 1) Denial. I can strap stuff on, I don't need hard luggage, and it just makes the bike wide and hard to get on and off of. 2) Acceptance. Wow, this hard luggage is really convenient when traveling, and doesn't actually seem to ever be in the way. So I'll slap it on every time I travel, but leave the bike mean and lean for commuting. 3) Embracement. Wow. It's been 3 years now, and these bags have only come off to change a tire. |
