Found these and immediately decided to order some. Not actually Traction grips, but look pretty dang close. Thought I'd share in case anyone was looking for such a creature. http://www.amegrips.com/motorcyclestreetheated/spo rt-bike-heated-chicane-grip |

They look nice. The price is fair for the technology, but I'd worry about either wear or non-grippy-ness. It would be hard to do both. I also don't like any wire going to the throttle (which wears every time you twist). Looks like their controller is similar to the one I designed. |

I agree Reep, but even the Buell heated grips have their own grips. I'm gonna order some today or tomorrow, once I pick a color, so I'll report back my findings. BTW Ralph, check their resellers. I found them on eBay for $30 cheaper and I bet one of them would ship to Germany. |

The polly heaters solve that problem by sitting in the bars, but that means it takes a good 5 minutes for the heat to start getting out, and you wouldn't believe how hard it is to regulate the temp with that kind of latency. It's kind of a relief really, now I can just share my design and let anybody build them. I'm redoing the whole thing on the Aurduino platform now, so it should be a lot more "hackable" for more people. |
