I built these for my motor build but that money was sunk into my wife's Civic two weeks ago, so I'm putting these up for sale. Thunderstorm heads heavily worked over by yours truly. I'm asking $850 + shipping for the heads and matching manifold. Just the hardware in them is worth almost $500. The details: I had the port floors on the intake and exhaust ports welded up so I could get a better flowing shape with the ports. The intake floors are very close to XB floors and the exhaust ports are more D shaped. The intake ID at the manifold was increased from 1.675" to 1.770" to port match the included ported Ultima intake manifold. The valves have been sank with a heavy unshroud, along with a 30* squish band at 3.563" diameter (same as a 1250 piston) and .060" decking, to create a highly efficient bathtub shaped combustion chamber with lots of squish surface area when paired with a .300" dome 30* piston. Can also be used with a .200" dome for lower compression and milder cams. The guides are AV&V +.001" Bronze Manganese. Valves are 5/16" Ferrea 1.900" intake, 1.615" exhaust. I paid close attention to blending the valve seats and rounding the seats and the valves at either sides of the seal band after I lapped the valves, so the flow will be least interrupted at the highest-flowing points (around the valves and seats). Springs are Ferrea .600 with Titanium retainers, with spring height set to the required 1.850". What you need to run these: -matching 1250 kit with 30* dome pistons -.060" shorter pushrods (.040" shorter would also work) -Mikuni carburetor adapter if running a spigot-mount carb -clearance rockerboxes for springs -aftermarket ignition recommended (Message edited by phelan on January 23, 2015) |

The heads you could run easily, though you would need a new squish band cut to match the pistons you plan to use. I can do that for you for the cost of replacing the valve seals ($15). The rear head has the hole for the heat temp sensor already. The manifold though would need quite a bit of work to fit the injectors and throttle body. There are places that can do it, but your better off either having the stock EFI manifold ported to match or getting a new manifold made for X1 DDFI but with the larger 1.770 ID. I think Hammer can make an X1 manifold from billet for $175. |
