Aren't those S2 forks? |

Those are definitely S2 WP ROMA forks. The S1 WPs did not have the red dial adjusters. |

No doubt they came off an S1, just saying they were not likely the stock forks. Unless maybe the ROMAS were an option? |

I'm wondering if they were left over from the S2 build.Maybe Brankin will chime in? |

Interesting... S2 forks on an S1. Doesn't immediately sound like a good idea. S2 forks should be longer - and that extra length can't be utilized on an S1 (with a stock handlebar setup) as it was on the S1. I sincerely doubt they were leftover S2 parts that were installed on an S1 at the factory, but stranger things have happened... Any 'leftover' parts would've gone into the warehouse for service/replacement parts orders. There were no suspension 'options' - whatever was spec'ed for each model is what that model received. Got any pics of that '97 S1 that they came off? 1313 |

Actually I have seen it done by those who want true clip-ons. They utilize that extra length at the top for the clip-ons. |

I know David (Jolly) put S2 ROMAS and top tree on his X1 to use clip ons at the top and clean up the cockpit's aesthetics. Wouldn't doubt something similar being the case here as clip ons above the tree are FAR more comfortable generally than below the tree. |

Like this: S2 forks on an S1 work well with clip-ons, but it's definitely a more aggressive ride. The ones on my S1w are 54mm LSL tall clip-ons. They'd be a bit nicer if they were an inch closer to me though. (more pics here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/615176.html?1392077696 ) Roma forks are nice forks. $200 for the set is a great deal. Al |

"I don't want to stomp on Mike's for sale thread here" Al,stomp away, the forks are sold.My S1 didn't look that clean. It had been mistreated by a previous owner and I had to do a partial disassembly to clean and improve it. |
