1998 Triple Black S1W for sale. Its as nice as any in the country and belongs in a museum. Its got a few extras and brand new tires, fresh service. Runs as it did from the factory. Never down, molested etc. It is an honest 9.5 on 10 scale. This is the 4th S1W Ive owned and is the nicest. It was the one I couldnt afford when they came out in 98 and the one I looked for for 5 years till I found her again. Its been stored in my basement and ridden each summer only on the nice days when I wasnt riding my other stuff. Bar-end mirrors and V/H exhaust w intake. $5000 cash, w clean title and not a penny less-only because there ISNT a nicer one int he country. NONE!!! 17,600 miles. Thanks for looking. Sad as it is...the Buell resale market right now is insulting to sellers. Hang on to it if you can with hope that things will improve in the near future. The bike is very nice! |

I agree that the resale market right now for Buells isn't great Best of luck in selling your nice bike. |

The resale market for Buells hasn't been great since I parted with my first 2 about 1995. But, it's not markedly different from other brands. The best thing you can do with a Buell is . . frankly . . to sit on it. I've got what is very likely the most significant S2 in the world. It visited 37 states on a single trip and was pretty much "the first Buell about anywhere in the USA" in terms of places like Pikes Peak, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Rodeo Drive, The Golden Gate Bridge, Alice's Restaurant, Mount St. Helen's and so forth. It's been in 44 states. It has a motor that would cost you something on the order of $10,000 in it with less than 100 miles on it and it's painted in a factory prototype color. But . . . I am well aware that the sales price of the bike would, at best, be about half the value of the motor. We're not alone . . . . a friend has had his RR-1000 (with 6 miles on it) for sale for a couple years and there is, sadly, just no interest so he's decided to bite the bullet and put it on the auction block in Vegas. That's a pristine S1 . . it's not original (it it were it'd sell for $7,000) but it's damn nice. The best thing you can do is simply enjoy it. |

I would bet Erik built bikes to be ridden - they ride well. |

. . . - they ride well. They do. In the last almost 30 years I've ridden LOTS of them in 44 states . . some more fun than others but each one a blast . . . I used to have a habit of jumping on one in someplace like St. George, UT and heading straight to Philly . . . for a hear, during development of the X1 . . . I shuttled back and forth between East Troy and NYC. They do indeed ride well . . . . |

It's a S1W white lightning. Thanks for the kind words. I've owned around 20 different Buells over the years and this is the 3rd S1W white lightning. It's also the cleanest n most pristine one I've had. The color combo is not one seen often and way more rare than the traditional all white version. It's got S1W on the title and motor that we all adore. I probably should keep it but it doesn't get ridden. I enjoy riding my other bikes more and than those don't get much time either. Got a baby on the way in January so I can't say that my schedule is going to be more open than it is currently. |

Congrats Nik, what did you sell it for, for reference sake? Hoping you got close to what you were asking. Thanks. |

Full asking price. Nice ones bring whatever collectors want for them. Raggedy ones will bring their worth in parts only. |

Precisely my experience. I saw, 2 months ago, a Buell sell for $43,000 and an essentially new 1125R (with a dead battery) sell for $2,500. Trying to impute anything from one sale to another is a fool's errand. |

That's excellent Nik. Well maintained ones should go for more. Congrats again. |

Back for sale. Guy from Canada laid out a deposit of $500. Fell onto some health concerns. I gave him till Sept 1 to get it shipped back to Alberta or pick it up. Neither occurred, hence the bike is up for sale again. Its as nice as when I first wrote the ad here this spring. No additional mileage as it was under contract and in climate controlled storage waiting for the new owner. I would like to sell it but it wont be given away as its as nice as any ive seen and getting rarer all the time. Thanks for the interest. Nik |
