1999 Buell X1 I bought this as a parts bike and when I started to take it apart I could not help myself in bringing it back to life. . . engine has new pistons, rings, valve seals and heads had ports cleaned up. New stainless exhaust studs along with a Cometic top end gasket kit also installed. The oil pump has been replaced with a 2007 XB model retro fitted with the proper fittings. Bronze oil pump gear installed at time of replacement of pump. Fuel injectors bench checked for pressure and cleaned. A Force exhaust and intake was installed and the exhaust wrapped because of the heat coming off the pipe. Buell RACE ONLY ECM programs the fuel injection. New Continental tires adorn the PM wheels with new bearings. Unobtanium Banke shifter and brake pedal assemblies came on the bike. Integrated tail light /rear signal unit installed. Carbon fiber tank cover, fly screen, front fender and rear hugger completed the re-build. Bike is LOUD and strong. . . uses no oil. Definitely a street fighter with many of the correct period "go fast" parts. Engine was properly broken in with non-synthetic 20W50 oil and has been changed to full synthetic in the engine and primary. ODO reads 19K. The whole bike has probably 900 miles on it since the bike was completed. . . I really do not want to sell this bike but I have no more room in the garage and I think keeping it on the road was my part in keeping the BUELL legacy going.
