For sale is my 1997 Buell S1 Lightning. It only has 6,500 miles on it! I am the 3rd owner. I rescued it from sitting in a barn and wasting its life away sitting there. When I purchased it, it was 100% stock. Here is a list of things I've done: Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage 1 air cleaner Buell factory racing full exhaust M-factory billet pegs Reupholstered seat with gel inserts wrapped in leather Integrated LED taillight and front signals Carbon fiber rear hugger Vortex dirtbike bars with bar end mirrors ODI road racing grips Yost power tube carb kit with rejet Fresh oil change with Lucas synthetic oil New battery, inspection, and fork seals I have most of the stock parts for it still if you want them. Asking $3900 or trade for X1 or XB  | ||

VIN doesn't end in 499, does it? Come from MD? Looks an awful lot like one I bought an ex...and after we split, it sat - literally - in a horse barn. I have to check my records, but I *think* the VIN was 499... | ||

Ratbuell, I will cut you a more than fair deal to see it come home to you. I'm a sucker for such a sad story. It's an amazing bike but I want another X1 so bad. I wanted an S1 for so long and I have the best S1 I could ever ask for its just not for me. I like the bigger bike and I really like the bigger bike. | ||

I really can't right now. Check that. Can...but SHOULDNT. I already have two that aren't tagged and plenty of projects going unfinished. I really wish I could, that was the first S1 I ever rode and it definitely got me hooked. I had a 99 M2 at the time, we were looking for something for her, and found 499. I loved riding it. I loved riding my M2 behind it too - but don't know what was more fun to watch, the bike...or her on it  I'm just happy it has been saved and is being treated properly. If there is any hint of it getting "chopped" please let me know and drastic actions may be taken to save it. Otherwise...just get it a good home and make sure the new owner knows how to get in touch with me. I can try to dig up some old info on it... It really does do my heart good to know its not rotting in that barn anymore. Seeing it all cleaned up...makes me smile  | ||

Although I would entertain your trade, even half way to Ks from here is farther than I want to drive. I am a route salesman and drive all day 5 days a week and the only kind of driving I feel like doing on the weekends is on two wheels haha. That is a very clean x1 though. Rat: I've always wanted an S1 based solely on looks and now I know that looks aren't everything. I miss the bike bike feel of the X1, the fuel injection, stability, and 2 up riding. I would never let any Buell get chopped on my watch, that's just wrong. I will make sure to pass your info on to whomever is lucky enough to grab up this gem. Please, in the meantime, get me any info you can dig up. | ||

New Castle or New Cumberland? I have a Uly that has 60,000 + on the clock I only put 2000 miles on it last year, time for a change I would love to have Joe's bike. I would keep it safe until he was ready to bring her home | ||

Im sorry my post was unclear. I meant to the list of bikes I do not want. Im a sport bike guy. Adventure bikes and touring bikes really arent my style (although ulys are comfy and s2s and s3s are practical). sorry!!!! | ||

Update: 7200k miles and counting as I ride it every chance I get. Also, I will be replacing the primary tensioning shoe next chance I get because they are prone to failure and I practice preventative maintenance Devo: I'm located in new castle, pa and yes it is still for sale. Brian: I'd love the opportunity to own an fxr. It's defiantly on the bike bucket list. How did that air cleaner end up working out for you? Kasi: I'll take some tomorrow and send them via email Mark and Spiderman: I am reconsidering your trades. (Read what I wrote below). However, mark, the miles are the only thing that scares me with your bike. Spiderman, could you send some pics? To everyone: I will consider trades on just about anything except a blast (and that will never change). I desire something that has an upright riding position for daily commuting comfort. My mind changes all the time on bikes (hence why the S1 is for sale) | ||
