We have a stock header and muffler for a 99 X1, not sure if it will fit or not. Dirt cheap, plus shipping. It has the bungs for EFI, easily plugged if not needed. | ||

Any header fits any heads, it's the FRAME that changed. The ONLY difference from Lightning heads to Thunderstorm heads, was the collector size (2" Lightning; 2.5" Thunderstorm). (I wish this would be made into a sticky...) Pre-99 headers are all shaped like an "S", and the rear pipe goes over the frame by the riders ankle. They are all 2" collector, except for 98 S1W and S3, the first 2.5" collectors for Thunderstorm engines. 99 and later headers are shaped like a "T", and go UNDER the rear frame rail by the riders ankle due to the frame change. All 2.5" collectors. EFI headers can be used on carb bikes if you plug the O2 sensor hole; otherwise the same header. | ||

Oh, and to the OP - define "upgrade". What are you looking for - noise? Power? Power in a certain RPM range? Best bet for streetable reliable power is to find a Buell race kit - hamcan air filter, race header, race muffler - and properly tune your carburetor. Even a properly jetted and tuned carburetor with a STOCK intake and exhaust can run exceedingly well. But...knowing what you are trying to upgrade, or what characteristic you are trying to "fix", will help us find something for you. I'm looking for a slip-on exhaust that fits my 2" collector that makes more noise. The only options I have found are $600+ (like a drummer). I'm looking at modifying my stock or finding something here used before spending that much. (Message edited by wesleyb82 on January 21, 2013) | ||

I just had the freakiest thing happen. I just googled motorcyle and choose news to read what crashes are happening around the country. I've probably done this 3 times in a year and do it bc deep down Im terrified of a crash. The fourth result says something about a kia cutting off a bike, I click on it and I see the name of the badweber above (Cheez2158) who I just bought some things from and who I have been speaking with other the phone. His email was charlesrosborne72@xxx which means hes 41, his area code was 563 which is Iowa, and the bike in the photo looks like his 1125. WTF. I'm ••••••• freaking out. The only way I even made the connection was bc I recognized his face. The only way I knew his face was bc I have this stupid app on my phone that tried to find my contacts on facebook and i saw his profile. The only reason I'm even up this late is bc I forgot to set something at work. And this is the third time in a year I even google this and hes the fourth result down?? And I can count the number of ppl I know that ride on two hands. And hes one of millions that I happen to stumble upon???? Is this a sign??
