OK folks, following Court's lead, I'm offering up some of my personal Buell swag to help Lynn Twohig raise money to help end a deadly scourge: Breast cancer. Consider this a "no reserve" seven-day BadWeatherBikers auction, and up for bids is "Buell Rules": (Note to self: We're low on Cuervo...) I used to have two of these, given to me, as I recall, by a PacBOG sponsor back in '96 or '97. It's an Ice White Pearl '96 S2 Thunderbolt doing what it does best, and the piece is gorgeous. It's #96 (of course!) of 250, and personally signed by Erik Buell and the artist. Are YOU Old School Buell? Then you NEED this piece! Now the bad news: I used to have two of these. The other one got donated away years ago, and was mint. This one, however, has "wrinkles" in it. You can see them in the pix, and it's how I originally received the piece. I used to be in the custom-framing business, and if this poster is "vacuum-bonded" to some high-quality backer board (archival quality, natch), most of these wrinkles should go away. Once matted and framed (PLEASE have the framer use archival techniques) and covered with museum-quality glass, most of the wrinkles should have disappeared. This poster represents a faBuellous moment in time, warm, rich, adventurous, colorful and inviting. The spirit of Buell. Overall dimensions are 16 inches x 26 inches (40.6 cm x 66 cm), and the artwork itself measures 9 inches x 20.25 inches (22.9 cm x 51.4 cm). If you want to play, go HERE. Bidding ends next Sunday night, 4/3/2011, at 11:00 p.m. Pacific time (Monday, 4/4/2011 06:00 GMT). I'll cover the shipping and handling, and the successful bidder will receive the poster in a sturdy mailing tube. Dig deep, people - this is for a very good cause. FB&D |

Stupid question, if I won it, could I have you do that vaccum thing? Obviously I would pay more for it. |

Froggy, I don't have the equipment to do so, plus once mounted on backer board the piece goes from being simple and cheap to ship (small tube), to not so simple and cheap (much larger box). Best bet would be if you have a local framer who has the equipment. Unfortunately, the wrinkles are pretty pronounced. It doesn't take away from the rarity of the piece, nor it's desirability (IMO), but definitely something that a perfectionist will want to address. Thanks for your interest. I'm stoked that BadWeB has gotten behind Lynn's fund raiser in such a positive way. Take care, FB |

REMINDER: The auction for the "Buell Rules" S2 Thunderbolt poster to benefit Lynn's fundraising drive ends Sunday night. The current high bid is $200 (thank you Jumbo_Petite!). Court has pretty much seen everything there is to see related to Buell over the years, but he's never seen one of these limited-edition posters "in the wild." Methinks YOU need this poster for your very own. Good luck, and happy bidding. |
