just because it is a nice bike at a decent (not great) price doesn't mean the right person IN YOUR AREA is ready to pony up the cash it hasn't even been a month. the economy is tough right now. plus, not everyone that wants a buell wants a tuber or a fi tuber unless you are under the gun, be patient. it will happen.... don't be so quick to keep lowering the price just because the response is less than you anticipated if you go fishing, you know what i mean. same hole, same rod, same bait, different results at different times meanwhile, ride it and enjoy it until the right person comes along in my town, if you place a classified add there is a "run it till it sells" price. it has worked for me twice when this forum did not. believe me, LOTS of people who own buells have nothing to do with this forum. you might try some of the other ones GOOD LUCK, MAN.....hang in there |

Thanks for the encouragement. The problem is I do not ride it.... Hurts my knees. too old and did too many stupid things when younger. And it will be a hard sell in my town, because our 2 local dealers service departments had a party when Buell went out of business.. They never got it... |

i NEED some encouragement....i am definitely getting older (59) and STILL doing stupid stuff. just got 6 screws and a plate on my left thumb from a "minor" disagreement with the pavement. fixing the bike will cost less than 2 visits to the orthopedist (who wore his harley do-rag into the o.r. for my surgery.) i asked for the Motor Company discount.....he was blank..........yuppie doctor "biker". being a surgeon, at least he knew how important thumbs are

Most Dr's don't ride, they have a Harley as driveway jewelry. We do have 2 local Dr's who took RE class from me and ride the hell out of their bikes.... |

I am a MSF Ridercoach and teach about 65 classes a year. That's what's wrong with my knees. I still ride, got 47,000 on my 08 Ultra. And God knows how many miles a year riding demos on Hyosung GT250's and Buell Blasts..... |

Bump, and... The nada as per m.c.news is: 2365 for a 99 x1. I know that the value police police don't feel like this is pertinent information for the forum. However, IMHO, if the purpose of an enthusiast forum is to build community and help each other to help each other I see no purpose in trying to inflate values to what they were, should be, or will someday possibly be. If you don't like it, try to spend even more time staring at your 401k statement looking foreword to when it is going to bounce back and let people who want or need to sell or buy get it done. I now step off of my s.box, apologize for challenging an obviously entrenched theme and offer $2,000 for this machine. |

Well the KBB for a 1999 X1 is $3520. I think his price is more than fair. A $2000 offer is one hell of a lowball offer. Whatever you have to do to justify your insulting offer though go ahead. http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle/retail/1999/buell/x1 -lightning/253077 (Message edited by brinnutz on June 23, 2010) |

From your link: The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This price reflects what this bike would be sitting on a dealership floor for. Oh wait, there are no more dealerships. Condition: seems good, relatively low miles, no hit there. Popularity: Low. As the first fuel injected tubers these bikes are thought of as finicky, hard to work on and not overly reliable. Now, don't hound me with stories of your bike that has gone 250 thousand miles and all you ever had to do was change the oil, awesome for you, a quick check with any neutral resource on motorcycles will verify the perception exists weather justified or not. Warranty: uh, are you starting to get it? Local market conditions: can't be sure, maybe his phone has ringing off of the hook from his c.l. add but not one of the many posts on here has anything to do with, or is from anyone interested in, purchasing this motorcycle. So, again, unless you are buying a bike or selling a bike, or have actual information that might contribute in a positive way to the sale or purchase of a particular machine, there is a big rest of the forum out there to banter on. By the way, I like both of the rides in your guys profile pics, nice work. This is nothing personal. I am in the buying and selling business, not these or any other m/c's by the way, and the more emotionally involved the product, the more bad informaiton tends to be involved in the transaction. You guys don't have to love your bikes any less because the monitary value of it is not what you think it should be. Just f'n ride em!!! } |

a low offer is not an insult...it is simply a low offer. i have made a low offer for an item, had the seller jump my shit, only to have that same seller later email me to see if my offer still stands....we both got what we wanted. i got the item, he got some cash. anything is only worth what you can convince someone to give you at that time. if you have to get off of it, less money than originally wanted is better than no money at all. anyone who remembers beanie babies has seen markets grow and collapse. the beanie babies never changed, but the desire for them most certainly tanked....extreme example, but an example none the less

All, it is still for sale. As for value, it is whatever someone will pay. As for $2365, it will rot in my yard first. Or I'll give it to my youngest son and take his Blast.lol.As for more pictures, tell me what angle you want and I'll email them or get my son to post them here. |

Thank you fasted, I like your calming perspectives. Doug s, why such a fence sitter? Is there anyone out there that has sold an x1 for more than 2k recently? If I am out of line on this educate me. I just think that is what these bikes are worth right now . Wtcardr, I think giving it to your son is a fabulous idea. Don't know if I'd bother with the blast if ya got bad hinges in your legs though. If you notice, it started out as a bump, turned into a rant, throwing the first bid out just seemed natural. If you would not accept a listed NAdA value offer, that tells me you don't really want to sell it. I would at least try to keep it indoors though. |
