I believe that's for an S2. S3's the trip reset is on the left side of the speedo above the tach and the idiot lights are the same height as the reset but on the right over the clock. | ||

It's definitely NOT for a 98+ S3 This is from my '98 S3T  | ||

Actually, that's for a '97 S3, maybe '98 too (not T). The S2s have three mounting holes in the face and do not have a third hole where the clock goes on the S3. The early S3s had mounting holes in the sides of the dash as pictured. | ||
