I wound up with some extra ECM connectors and thought I would see if there was interest in working USB to ECM cables? I was thinking probably around $40 to $45 each and I'm open to custom configurations for the USB end. Pretty much any of the FTDI adapters that Mouser or Digikey stock, would be nice to find a weather proof USB "B" chassis mounted connector for permanent install on the instrument cluster, but I haven't found one yet. If there is interest, I have 3 extra ECM ends, no money due until I actually make your cable, or maybe 50% before ordering the FTDI device (haven't decided yet). Paypal preferred. Please post interest in this thread so that we can get a tally on the number interested. If there is enough interest I can order more ECM connectors and make more than 3 cables. Thanks. |

OK. I'll let things ride until the weekend is over and then make a parts order on Sunday night. I have one but I'm not happy with the FTDI module that I have, it was for another project and isn't ideal for this type of thing (but it works). If I find something that I really like I'll update this thread, otherwise it will be the plain old boring USB A cable that everyone uses. |

Let me double check, I think a friend of mine scored a copy of the ECMspy program. If so I'm in. |

If you google for it, it can be found, but I wouldn't worry too much about trying to find it. I'll count you in. That leaves one connector left. |

That's all the connectors unless Vortec backs out, and I doubt he will. I can keep a list and make orders every few weeks if there is interest, the connectors seem to be used on some MSD equipment, so they are not that hard to get anymore. |

I'm sure that my cable is working properly, but I'm putting this project on temporary hold until I am certain I can access all the data in my 03 XB9R. My intent was to check each cable before I sent them out, and I can't be certain that my first cable is working correctly right now, so it is on hold for the moment. Some things look like they are working fine, others not so well. |

OK, with some help found that my problems were a user error and everything works, so I'll order cables tonight, but they probably won't ship until Tuesday (seems there is something called a holiday on Monday??? I have to work.). (Message edited by greg_e on October 11, 2009) |

Andy- yes, the X1 uses the same connector and ECMSpy that the XBs use. |
