Wanted- XB9R 'bolt in central New York before it gets too cold to ride. Probably a 2003 as I don't think I can afford anything much newer. Scratches/cracks in the body are not a problem, but the frame must be in good shape. No salvage titles unless the price is extremely low, and you guarantee (with full refund) that I can register and inspect it without problems! Must be running so that I can get it home. Prefer stock computer and exhaust (needs to be stock quiet). I'll deal with the computer in my own way after I get one. Will consider an XB12R if the price is low enough, but I would prefer the 9R. Thinking that I will need to branch out farther. Bought a tow dolly and once I get a hitch on my car and make sure the dolly is secure I can open up the range. Trying to keep it to 4 to 6 hours away which means probably Cleveland to into Vermont and down into PA. Can't really get time off from work or I would open it up farther to a 2day out and 2 day back trip. | ||

Any interest in a Lightning? I have a good one in Cleveland (the Red 04 with 3,800 miles listed in Buell's for sale) and will work with you on delivery. | ||

I'm starting to work with a guy in (around) Cleveland that has a 'bolt for a price that fits my budget. The only factors that could kill it is if he doesn't have the stock exhaust, and if my tow dolly is not something that I can trust. The dolly is a Prohoist and a few people have reviewed them as serviceable. Really want the 'bolt so that there are fewer things to change to make it what I want. I had two different criteria for choosing my next bike; #1 a completely b@lls out single seat racer. #2 a really nice BMW touring machine with hard cases. Right now the b@lls out racer is winning and obviously I want something really good, and hopefully really different to all the other sport/race replica bikes that are running around.I think the XB9R covers #1 really well. Can't afford an 1125r right now or the local dealer would give me a really good price on a new one. There are also Lightnings all over New York so I wouldn't have to travel too far. Also the cheaper I can get the machine, the better. I want to put a MicroSquirt EFI system on it so that I have total control over the fuel and ignition. As well as body and paint. Yes I have ideas, how many I can do I don't know, but step one is getting the platform that I want. | ||

Not to threadjack, but you can control the Buell EFI right out the box, do a search for ECMspy. | ||

But not with all the other possibilities that a MicroSquirt can give me. The stock ECU would be a good start for custom tuning, but once you get past its window of operation you are done. | ||
