I'm looking for a motor for this bike. A friend of mine bought this bike, and blew the motor. He claims the bike to be a 94, but the Lightning did not come out till 95. I think thats the mfg. date. He is looking for a new motor. Not sure how many of these are around. If ya got one, let me know so I can pass the word to him. I believe that S2 motors were the same. If I'm wrong, let me know. Thanx. Ian

s2 motors are pretty much stock sporty motors

The lightnings had lightening heads and better cams in them.

Really any sportster or buell motor from 86-03 will work. I bought my cyclone with an '86 883 motor in it and swapped in a 2002 white lightning motor.

The lighning came out as a 96 model year. 94-95??? Is the bike a S2??

Thats why I questioned him on the phone last night. I'll call him tonight and get my story straight. He claims it to be a 94! I had, and still have that puzzled look on my face! Either way, if the sporty motor will work, then any of the older tuber motors will work. I'm even thinking of making him an offer on the thing. The motor is junk though. I guess there were some case splits. I have'nt even seen it yet. I just know it took him 1 week to blow it up, then it has been in storage ever since. Poor little tuber!

If he is going to toss the motor, I might want it. I see I am close enough for a pick up.

Just got a call. He may want to sell the blown motor. I guess he trashed a cylinder, and the place he took it to get fixed, bored only the ONE cylinder, and left the good cylinder alone. No wonder the poor thing grenaded. B-trash, I'll post back to ya as soon as I get more info. He knows the blown motor isn't worth much, so I can probably get ya a good deal on it. From what I hear, he has over $6000 put into this bike (cost of bike and crappy rebuild), and no reason to hang on to the bad motor. A day or two, and we will know. Peace, Ian
