pondering an underseat relocation/rewire, to clean up the motor's appearance want regulator in hand to proof my ideas & fab mount some H-D regulators are similarly sized, if I remember correctly has anyone else performed this relocation? |

I think I have a totally gutted one in the garage (just the aluminum shell). If you can get a bad one with wires intact, that will be a better template for fabrication, but if nobody offers I can try and dig mine out. |

cool - thanx let's wait & see if anything else pops up before you start digging I really haven't considered wiring yet.... |

quick question do you think it will over heat if you hide it? I just replaced the one on my x1 and it looks like they have it mounted in the front to help keep it cool. |

I really don't know - 'hiding' is relative, in that I'm moving it under the seat & above the rear wheel a S3T-riding PHD tech did this way back when & I always liked his idea |

I just put an accel regulator on my x1 and it had a long enough wiring harness that I could have mounted it under the seat. |

From my experance with Accel the only problem is they don't test the old unit just send you a new one, so you don't always know if that was the problem....I know it ain't much to bitch about but it can lead to continuous trouble shooting... |

My S1W, and my S2, both have it factory mounted next to the battery. I had to replace the one on the S1W a couple years ago, I'll dig and see if I still have the old one.... |

ok, i lied. had to splice the wires for the circutbreaker too. stock seat would need a lot of hollowing and passenger would notice the lump i believe

Um...fuzzy? The N0306.9 part in your pic is the ignition box, not the voltage regulator...the regulator should be on the (I want to say) right side of the bike, at the end of the battery. Black metal with polished/highlighted fins on it. Ignition box shouldn't make much heat at all, it's just the "spark computer" on a tuber. |

doh! mine's a '99, regulator is up front under the oil filter. me confuse easily! people gotta be getting tired of looking at this thing, i've got pics in a bunch of threads already. all i've got done so far is the tail, an s1 tank to clear a set of vortex clip-ons, then a lower instrument mount, home made rear sets, the sliders you can just see to replace the passenger pegs, forcewinder (my knee kept arguing with the cf hamcan). think next is sticking a spare xb front end and rear wheel on it. think all i need is a front axle and fender. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/363694.html?1212298449 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/415949.html?1227480752 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/417192.html?1227896444

I need to get me a set of those home made rear sets you have. I have a guy making me a new air cleaner maybe I should price a set of rear sets too. Now that you have brought this up I think I nay move my reg under the seat. I have an American sport bike metal under tail and it has a spot that would be great to mount it on. |

fuzzy, those rearsets are super here's a pair of Japanese-sourced fotos [posted elsewhere on this site]- are the pegs on ellipticals?

thanks guys, was originally thinking about marketing the rearsets, but take so damn long to make don't think i could sell them. no adjustment on the pegs, made the hangers to take stock pegs in about the same place as banke and everyone else. those japanese sets are trick, never thought of that at all! but with my seat so low, even with cammed all the way down, think i'd be cramping bad! not sure about that monkey motion over the top linkage though i just moved mine inboard about an inch from the buell updated shifter's location. made a couple miscalculations too, should have had more offset in the shifter, and about 10 degrees more droop in the brake pedal. haven't seen the metal undertail, i need something under there to keep the mud out. have you guy's looked at relocating the regulator to the front like the later models though? it is about three feet of wire threaded through, under and around the cam cover though. then the "IGNITION MODULE" would fit under there non-adjustable (only first-op here, not that thick)
