This engine is from a 97 Buell M2 and has 27000 miles on it. It was running perfectly 5 years ago before I used Syn 3 oil which caused the rear cylinder base gasket to leak. This engine was in good shape, but since it has not run in 5 years, it will need a bit of work. I will include a gasket kit (both cylinders from base to rocker boxes)so you can get this up and running in short time. You will also need a new cam cover gasket as I had to loosen it to remove some of the wiring. History This engine has always run reliably and unusually smoothly for a sportster motor. The timing was always spot on and I have never had problems with vibration like other Buell owners. The transmission has been replaced twice, first with a Baker 6-Speed, then with a 94 sportster tranny which is presently installed (slightly higher gear ratios). The clutch basket is new. The final drive gear was replaced in 2000 (stripped splines due to mfg error). This engine has not been raced or abused, but it has not been babied either. I an selling this motor because I have installed a 2001 engine in my Buell. Visual This looks just like a sporty engine, but has matte side covers instead of polished aluminum. There is a slight gouge near the derby cover from the shift linkage I used, but this is just cosmetic (and if you plan on using a polished primary cover, then it's a non-issue). Included: Engine Carburetor (with Dynojet kit) Carb bracket Hoses Forcewinder I may also include the original header, but I'll have to look for it. I'm lookig for $1200 but this price is negotiable. Sorry, but I cannot ship or transport this engine, so I would prefer a local pick-up in central NJ. |
