took up a new hobby, airbrushing/painting, looking to get some experience. what i'm looking for are parts that are rashed or cracked for experimental paint work. helmets, fairings, metal parts, whatever may be available. just thought i'd throw it out there. would be willing to cover shipping. |

I was just about to pitch a couple of helmets. I'd be willing to cover shipping if you might be willing to airbrush another helmet once you get the technique down. |

Old helmets are a great idea - I've got one due for the dumpster. Send me a PM since you're in Mesa, and I'm in Phoenix every week for work. |

Got a helmet that I'll let you play with, and I'll toss in a full set of plastics (white) that I want done. I also have a set of deep rashed translucent blue that you can play around with too. The white stuff I have a specific plan for, so PM me and I'll give the details and you can decide to take it on or not. We can figure out shipping costs then. |

Crap man, I've been so far out of the loop lately... Got your messages, and here's what we'll do: I'll get the blue plastics wrapped up with the helmet and find out what shipping is to wherever it is that you are. Is your plan to just keep the stuff? How about this? I'll just give you the stuff and you do a project for free for me later? |

Yo P3, What are you trying to blow? I know the allure of getting a brand new paasche or iwata. After seeing what some folks can do with clear coats and HH-enamels, we all want to go buck-wild. But maybe try a little something different. The true talent using your airbrush is control. And only one thing will help you gain control . . . Practice, practice and even more practice. I have always used a 'dry' erase board for my practice and warm-up sessions. Also, I have heard an old, large picture frame (w/ glass) works well. Just use Createx or Parma faskolor. They are water-based acrylics. They are easy to mix, thin out for clear coats and super versatile. The stuff will even clean up with water and soap, so you can use the board or glass over and over. (You can even paint skin with them. I have done some wicked temp tattoos in the past.) This kind of practice will help you develop those loop, negative and shade techniques that seperate hobbyists from artists. I understand wanting to paint motorcycles and cars, but all good artists know practice is the key. Little tidbit . . . when painting the plastics on a Buell, use a sealer before any work is done. As most on this forum will tell you, Krylon and rustoleum shakers work great. Thats because they are chemically similar to enamel sealers and primers. I have used 'Rustoleum Plastic' as a sealer/primer on several plastic parts for dirtbikes. They stick great! (then lay out you airbrush work.) Good Luck and don't breath too much paint! Wood Any questions or help just PM me. |

I have a stock black flyscreen that I would love to have some sort of custom design on it for XB Lights. Would you be willing to do some sort of custom design for me? i'll pay both ways shipping and let you be creative as you want with it. I just want it to say XB Lights on it and have the stock "lightning" badge on there and the rest can be whatever creative talents you'd like to throw on it. I understand your just starting out, and thats no biggie! I want it for wall art in my work room! Let me know if your interested! and once you get it down pretty good I might be paying you for some other stuff :-) But please wait before you get too good, as my wallet is a bit thin!!! haha Thanks -Robert www.xblights.com |
