I am kicking around selling my '98 Buell S1 Lightning which I will probably part it and would want to sell the motor 1st. I am just seeing if I get any one wanting the motor. I will probably sell a lot of stuff on ebay and will list stuff here first. But first off I will sell the motor then the PM wheels. The motor has been built up somewhat, it has Nallin Racing Stage II Thunderstorm Heads, Millennium 1250 Big Bore Kit, Screaming Eagle 536 Lift Cams, and a Haden M6 Primary Chain Tensioner. The bike has been dynoed twice, the first time, in Indianapolis, the guy who had the motor built dynoed it at 103hp to the rear wheel. I had the bike dynoed after putting a Force pipe on it and it dynoed 98.75hp here at a shop in Tulsa. I am wanting to get $3500 for the motor and can ship, I have shipped motors before and it wasn't a problem but it is a little costly. I am located in Tulsa, OK for pickup. |

I'm looking for a motor but that's a bit out of my desired price range. If you do find a buyer, I'd be VERY interested in your Force exhaust system. Brad |

I agree with Jayvee. What a gorgeous example of a tuber. Please try to sell it to an appreciative buyer before you dismantle it. If you can't get ur price then part it out if you must. These bikes are starting to disappear and before you know it, they'll be gone. |

Yeah, it is a nice bike but the people to buy one outright are far and few between. It is easier and less trouble to part one. I don't want to post it for sale and ask $7000 and have every one say how high it is and the highest they have seen them go for is $5000 because a lot of that seems to go on here and it drives the price down of these bikes. I can get about $7200 out of it in parts. If someone wanted to give $7000 I won't part it. The specs are as follows: Motor w/Nallin Racing Stage II Thunderstorm Heads Millennium 1250cc Big Bore Kit Screaming Eagle 536 Lift Cams Force Race Header Force Air Cleaner Mikuni HSR 42 Carb Pro Series Intake Screaming Eagle Coil Pro Series Ignition Module Banke Shifter PM Wheels New Style-updated shock New Style-updated front rotor New Style-updated front caliper New Style-updated swingarm-braced steel Battery Relocation Pro Series Seat Billet screw on oil cap Steering Damper-not installed yet Buell ProSeries Pegs Buell Pro Series Pegasus Ignition Cover New Pirelli's 14500 miles, under 4000 on big bore & heads Just installed drag bars & small S1 tank 2 months ago Also, I am just kicking around the idea, I haven't rode it more than 400 miles since I bought it so it is hard to justify having it just sit in the garage when I could use the money for other stuff. So I am mainly just seeing if I am far off on the price of the motor. (Message edited by grancuda on November 27, 2007) (Message edited by grancuda on November 27, 2007) |

I wish my S1W was that clean. Looks like I have some work to do this winter (once I get the motor sorted out properly). If you decide to part, I'm interested in the following: Pro Series Seat Banke Shifter I really hope you can find a buyer for the whole bike. The price isn't really too out of reach for a sweet S1W. But then again, I couldn't get $5500 for mine |

OMG, don't part!! Looks like you have someone interested in the bike... I'd say you could probably get at least $4500 for this beautiful bike, probably closer to $5000. I had a buddy who just bought a 98 S1W for $4500. Mileage was lower than yours, but it's no where near as clean as your bike or with any mods like yours. It brings a tear to my eye that this bike is even being considered to part out...Reconsider...I beg!! |

Brinnutz With what you say he could probably get out of the bike is probably the exact reason that he's parting it out. We all know what the 1250 kit runs, head porting, cams, exhaust etc etc etc. I sold my X1 with the same mods for much more than that and was asking the same amount on the motor. Got bids up to 3250 on the motor but it was just under my reserve. Pulled the motor off e-bay then ended up selling the complete bike for more than my asking price posted here. If you buy a bike that clean all stock and buy the parts yourself, how much will you have in it? So why not buy one already done and not have to screw around with building it, getting the right parts, finding the time and so on. Someone make the man a reasonable offer. |

I'm kinda with 'cuda on this one -I've been trying to part with my turbo'd S2'd 91 RS and no bites - I'm about to part IT out! That's one purty S1 there! To think these things might end up as Redneck's Mutants is a bit nauseating, but they are freakin' devoid of value to sell as complete bikes. Whataya gonna do? AL |

REASONS NOT TO PART A BEAUTIFUL MOTORCYCLE 1. the tuber Buells are a dyeing breed. 2. they look and sound awesome. 3. the fun and excitement they bring 4. the STRESS relief. 5. you can ride them with your Harley friends or your rice rocket friends. 6. you. ( we ) ( I ) bought and customized these bikes putting our hearts and souls, time and $$$ making them more cool and unique than they already are. 7. the quality time spent riding with friends, the making of new friends just because of the bike we choose to ride. 8. the torque, the sound, the front wheel in the air! 9. the STREEESSSSSSS RELIEF. I would rather take a loss and sell it to someone that would appreciate and take care of it for what it is and what i put into it, than tear it apart into small pieces trying to get back my $$$. look @ e-bay 2-3 bikes a week bite the dust becoming mutants or being sold as parts. someone needs to step up an give this guy a decent offer on that beautiful bike, i would but i have 4 bikes in my harem, love em all. just my thoughts and opinion, so please don't take offense marc............ |

While I completely understand the need to part it out, it is indeed a shame that tubers are not appreciated by more riders. With all the hype surrounding the 1125r its no wonder we cant get a decent price out of them. I'm sure you've heard it before but, if I had the money.........Best of luck to you. Beautiful bike! |

I am also amazed at the pricing disparity between parts and whole bikes. I know that you can only recuperate a fraction of the cost of any mods that you make to your bike, but Buells are kind of ridiculous. I just bought my current S1 that is very similar to yours (1250, Stage 2 XB heads, 536 cams, HSR42, Force exhaust, Forcewinder, SE ignition module, plus other good stuff) for less than $4k, and sold my other S1 in almost stock form (V&H slip-on, ceramic coated exhaust, Forcewinder, jet kit, and Race ignition module were the only mods) for the exact same price. I certainly don't understand the current used Buell market. On one hand I can understand the horror of parting out such a beautiful bike, but on the other hand, I like the opportunity to pick up extra parts for my own bike. |

A wise man from these boards once said to me, let people part out their bikes, that's more parts for me. Buy up parts and store them. They'll be worth more money later. |
