Thanks Bads1, I had always thought the 03 pulley was the same as a 04 or 05 for that matter... The Idle pulley that is.. |

Saintly, Sorry but I thought so to. When I replaced with the new one the tension was different then with the newer one so their is a difference and that is why Al,and all that sell as a kit use a new Tensioner as part of the kit for replacement. |

I`ll have to check the Dealer by part number say for a 03 and see if they are the same # as a 04 or 05 had thought they were the same... |

Sorry but I thought so to. When I replaced with the new one the tension was different then with the newer one so their is a difference and that is why Al,and all that sell as a kit use a new Tensioner as part of the kit for replacement. The tension was different because the arm or brackets are different lengths. The part #'s are different because Buell only sells it as an assembly (pulley AND bracket) The idler pulleys(and only the idler pulleys) ARE the same for all years of XB's (Message edited by saintly on November 07, 2007) |

But it won't work on any other year but 03's. The rear pulley is a 03 and its not of the same size as 04 to present as the same for the front pulley sprocket. |

Dana, I think this thread contains more confusion than clarity. Hogs asked: " Could use the pulley if bearing is in good shape and all...What will ya let just that go for? I assume they are the same up to 06 or so..?" I do believe he is referring to JUST the idler pulley here. When he says: " if bearing is in good shape " and "will ya let just that go " . I don't think he is interested in the front sprocket, rear sprocket, or the bracket. He want's to know if you'll sell him just the idler pulley by itself. And that pulley (by itself) will work on all 2003 - 2008 Buell XB's. Sorry for any confusion and for making a mess of your thread. Fritz |
