The base is made from a substance Corbin calls fibertech it is a hard plastic type material . This seat and backrest cost the man I purchased the bike from $600 I think $275 is a fair price for a seat in this condition . This seat and a set of bags that I have for sale in another post came with it. If this seat was ever on the bike it wasn't for very long . So to answer your question . I have never sat on it . LoL .
