You can download the software from the techno research website for free. If you need the cables with it they can be bought from Al at A.S.B. in the sponsor section.(99.00 for the cable and 39.00 for the key span adaptor? I think) If you want I have the software & cables to load any map to your ecm. These keys have not been "locked" to any ecm so one needs to be provided. You would also need to buy a map (I'm almost positive they are 100.00 from Al) and push the map into your ecm. Fact is, there is no profit in the cable/SW, the dealer pricing markup is all in the key. We sell just the key for folks that don't want the SW but only want a mapped ECM, but not the other way around, because the SW doesn't work without a key. #9308 is the SW+Key, #9309 is the Key only. You can download the SW from the Techno site, but it won't run without a key. And it won't connect to the bike without their cable, which has a microprocessor in it. It isn't the same as the VDSTS cable, it is the same processor but different firmware. A dumb hardwired cable with the pins wired straight through to the right connector types won't work either.
