It'll fit any of the tube frame Buells 1999 and earlier (I believe). The key is the I.D. of the header pipe leading to the muffler is 2".

I believe the header pipe diameter was increased starting in 2000.

I don't think that is correct, all thunderstorm engines starting in 98 have the 2.5", i am sure of that. i believe that includes all Cyclones after 1999??? anyone????

so most likely this will only fit 97 and older S1 and 97 S3 and possibly up to 98 M2???

Honestly, I am unsure. Quite some time ago, a friend gave me the pipe for my '00 M2, the connection diameter was too small.

According to V&H's website (http://www.vanceandhines.com/a114_ss2r_bue.html), I'm guessing this particular pipe fits the 1999 M2.

The V&H muffler for the S2 has a short 3" stub on the front of it, and is 2" in diameter.

the later models had an elbow that I think was held on with springs, to the muffler, and was 2.5" diameter.
This fits the '98 S1's, and '99 X1's, not sure if it fits S3's.

This is too funny. It's created a challenge for all sorts of knowledgeable folk.

I'll take pics and (try) post 'em tomorrow.

For now, The SS2R in my garage has a bent, elbow pipe that is held to the main part of the muffler by 2 springs. HOWEVER, the ID for this elbow pipe that connects to the header is 2".

Go figure.

It is for a 97 S3, S1 or 97-98 M2 then.
Those had the 2" headers that needed the elbow.

I'm not sure how to resize these pics in order to upload them. it's late and I'm tired.

Pls give me your e-mail and I'll zap some pics to you. When I return from a w/e trip, I'll try again to post the pics.

I think I have it now.

Pics of the pipe may be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/22314376@N00/

Also, the price has been reduced to $100 delivered anywhere in the continental U.S. (more to ship elsewhere)
