96 S1 Motor. I had just had the entire top end of this motor gone through. I have receipts for over 2K in parts and labor. New pistons, rings, valve job, bored jugs out to .10, Less then 100 miles into the break in I heard a horrible noise like something rubbing on the tire, then a noise of some grinding then the bike no longer ran. I tried to get into N but nothing doing, and I had to just wait to come to a stop. After 4+ hours on the side of the road waiting for a trailer we got the bike back to the shop (H&H Cycle) I noticed a small chunk missing from the case right next to the sprocket. (I say sprocket because I run a chain conversion) There is now all sorts of slop in the tranny as a result of slowing from 70Mph after the case cracked. I have been told by others (some guys that drag race harleys) that the case issue could be welded and would work fine. The area and would not be visible at all once the cover was back on. So possibly all that is needed is a tranny, BUT, We never took it apart to look for internal damage to the cases as a result of the tranny going south. So, I bought a new motor and this one is still sitting in my garage. I only went this route cause I knew someone who had a motor for sale cheap local. Here is a link to some pics on badweb http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/152948.html?1128364797 I would rather not have to crate it up, but might for the right price. I am also not a mechanic, my buddy is a buell mechanic and did all the work for me, he has since moved. This means, I am not really wanting to try to break down the motor and send someone the Rods and Crank (those are both parts on this motor right?, I think....lol) |

Sounds like he wants to sell the whole engine intact as-is. There might be some west coasters driving out to the Homecoming who might be able to bring it with them. If you strike a deal and get it this far I can store it until you get it the rest of the way across the lake. |

Would like to sell it whole, but again, I don't know the entire extent of the damage. Make me a reasonable offer.. |

Sorry, I don't have the tools, time, or knowledge. You would get the lower end sometime around when gas is 50 dollars a gallon and no one is driving gas vehicles anymore. |
