Mid life crisis bike, crisis over.

Seriously, I purchased another bike with less of a sporty riding position and more room for a passenger. Every once in awhile I'll take the X1 out for a spin and I can say it still has "it" (ability to put a grin on your face). Very nice bike and in great condition, pampered and garage kept.

1999-X1-Lightning- Red Snap-17,000 miles (I actually rode it!) Condition....Strong 8, but I'm picky.

$4000

Dana-Balt/Wash DC area-Maryland 3Dvision@comcast.net

All warranty work completed including the rocker box gaskets, Crank seal, upgraded Primary Chain tensioner.

Mods include: Upgraded Supertrapp muffler (to include the upgraded Buell muffler bracket), Gutted air box, Race ECM, Penske shock, Buell upgraded seat, Corbin seat, Upgraded to 2001 shift linkage and spring loaded pegs, Head vent catch can, Bar end mirrors, Red Line synthetic oil diet, Dana designed under seat pan, Still have the stock fender and chin spoiler (didn't want to hide the shock), S3T handle bars.

Only problem with the bike is the low fuel light sending unit doesn't work. Bought the unit but never installed it, just used the odometer.

Tank bag and Factory Manual thrown in also.

I have 2000 x-1 just like yours. Have you had a problem with the Penske shock? My spring collar rubs the shock body to the point that I think I may have to return it to Penske.

Joe,

I went down and took a look at the shock and didn't notice any rub points on the shock body.

I noticed at the front of the shock there is a white nylon bushing that would keep the spring centered on the shock body is your's missing?

And at the rear it looks like the spring centers on the adjustment collar. I have mine set in the middle of the adjustment threads.

When I ordered my shock I got the upgraded spring for my weight (I'm big boned!). I weigh about 250 with gear on. That was one of the reasons I got the shock because the stock shock didn't have enough ....sproing.
