I would have thought aluminum the way to go as most of the Brit bikes have aluminum tanks available(but away goes your magnetic tankbag idea). If you're asking for someone to measure, my tank is off right now and I'll be happy to do it. (Message edited by gearheaderiko on December 30, 2004) |

Is that a non-metal set-up? If so - something like that would definately be doable! If metal - it really would go against the spirit of the Cafe bike to actually put something heavier than stock on - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

your comment about seeing the blast motor in the XB chassis is correct, I love that idea.....that and the flattracker would sell for Buell...limited editions, get the money up front and build them....the motor in the XB should be easy.. |

a bunch of the metal tanks are indeed Aluminum (polished AL is pretty)...the big reason I mentioned steel was because it's easy to modify...any welders can provide a fix for you...I'm also interested in get a larger tank to increase the range. At best mileage I get about 160-180 which is is a good 60 less than my wife reaches on her Ninja250 without any effort |

Sorry for the delay regarding the tank and seat combo. I believe they are both glass. I was doing a whole bunch of research to build a CB 350 and was looking at at least 5 sites a day for 3 months. I forget where I found that tank and seat combo-It may have been Austrailia. I did mostly google searches for "Cafe, tank, seat pan" etc. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I am at work right now. |

Good luck! They're a nice set up with improved braking and shifting, but you may want to move the footpegs up after awhile. |

Another option would be dirt bike pegs like I used - bringing in the pegs almost 2 inches on each side - works nicely as well - lol Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Sorry EZ, I just reread your post, it said bringing IN the footpegs, I thought it said UP! I thought it was a quick and easy way to move them up without drilling new holes. |

I figure that at only $200 I can fiddle around with these and not take too big of a loss if I dont like them or screw them up. I would have really liked the americansportbike rearsets, but these are worth a shot. |

I personally like the looks of the Crossroads set up better also, however, the Banke set up is an easier installation and has a place for your brake reservoir - the Crossroads doesn't (some ziptie, most run a L bracket from the seat bottom angled out past the belt). They both shift better than stock and the Banke is comfier in city, and the peg switch out really made a difference - Twin Peaks before was scraping, and after the peg switch out - none. If you need more height it is doable - up to almost 2" - lol - also I'll add that the Banke set up gets as many complements as the Crossroads. GT - JBOTDS! On the short dirtbike pegs with the Bankes... I can say from experience that the pegs are comfy, plenty long enough, and there's little reason to move them up. After mounting the short pegs, you get as much (maybe more) angular clearance than from keeping the stock Banke pegs and moving them up. |

NewBlaster, does that mean on corners you are bringing your feet up racing style (the balls of your feet on the pegs? I found if I didnt, my boot was scraping the ground rather prematurely. The reason for me to move the pegs up was to avoid the constant shift of feet on the peg.Probably why the Crossroads are so high up. (PS I never moved them up, just went back to the stock Y frames) |

I can answer that - in a word yes - just good cornering technique - but since my pegs would drag even on the balls of my feet - I started taking a serious look at the why - especially with the mounts tucked in so tight - even at stock height dragging even in radical turns should be minimal yet its not. So I looked at the stock pegs and the Banke setup and figured it out - they are using Buell pegs but with an adapter to mount on their mount - even the Billet edition is that adapter to Buell pegs using Buell pegs - lol - so I went to Scudiera - bought some Dual Sport pegs - widened the mounting hole just a tad and bolted those bad boys on - so far no dragging and I took them through the same test as their first time and they passed - they are about 2 1/2 inches shorter - if I was doing hard core track days I'd move them up that inch and a half, but for the every day and some weekend twisties they beat the heck out of stock - lol - at least as far as not scraping is concerned. Thanks EZ! I'm still looking for the ultimate setup.I dont like to move my feet around alot, liking instant access to brake & shifter (the track is different-no cars to run into!).Because of physical reasons moving the pegs up is NG and raising the seat height to counter that is NG. So, its either build a set thats halfway between stock and rearset, much like mmelvis runs, or just go to forward controls. The R & D continues, but right now I need my engine back together! |

The brake side on both the Banke and Crossroads are basically the same design wise with only artistic differences really seperating them - choosing the height on that side is no problem - However, with Scotts bike volunteering - lol - I'm going to try and work the shift side like the S1 Blast - which would again allow choice of height - All I'll need is the spacer measurements - which I can get and I'll compare - betting they are the same - GT - JBOTDS! You know... Looking at that pic of the S1 blast, I think I see how they worked it... Looks like they cut off the shifter right in front of the clutch cover. That would definitely take care of the possible contact, since that's where the case comes out farthest... NOW I'm seeing it. |

B 70 VS. SE E series - the question of the moment - is there that much of a difference between the two to justify the extra cost of the SE E series - I look at the profiles and see more simularities than differences - NHRS said the B 70 was a bit more peaky - by the specs you'd think the opposite would be the case - any out there know the truth? Any tried both and could tell the difference between the two? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Lucky you, its like -9 out and the wood stove I have in the garage wouldn't be able to keep up with the cold. I told the wife that since the Big Kid has a friend over I wouldn't have any problem bringing the Blast inside to put some new bars on it. Well, she out weighs me so I have to wait until it gets a little warmer. My next wife is going to let me bring bikes in the house. |
