Hey guys!

First off thanks for having me! Have found a lot of info just crusing through the forums.

Recently bought a 2002 buell blast that had been sitting in a garge since 2002... 146 miles on odo! Got it for a steal cause its in perfect condition EXCEPT the rot ;-/ needless to say it wont run becuase both the tank and the carburetor were full of schlack.

Soaked the carb for a few days in gunk carb and intake solvent (yes i know, not the best but its something) after taking all the plastic stuff off and it freed up a lot of gunk and nastiness. however the float pin was stuck of course.

Bought a new automatic center punch which worked awesome up until the last part when, you guess it, the pin tab popped off. looks like if i went through the whole process of cleaning it all i may be able to redneck ingenuity fix it with some jb weld?

However im thinking i may just give up and get a different/new carb. HOWEVER i find new isnt an option. I have noticed that the sporster carbs looking like theyd work? Anyone tried this? looks identical with the expetion a different throttle linkage and a set screw on the bottom by the bowl?

Any suggestions folks? Thanks in advance!

Yes, any modern CV carb from a sportster or big twin will work (with the deletions you mentioned).
Jetting is the same.
Swap the piston springs (use the Blast piston spring).
Disconnect the accelerator pump-you dont need it and
it will be an unproductive nightmare to tune it in.
Your mpg may suffer not using the TPS (but you won't notice a running difference). A VOES switch can be added instead of the TPS if you wish.
GET THE CHOKE CABLE WITH THE CARB. It can be a real and almost impossible hassle to get a replacement complete choke cable (though I have seen them for sale in the last few years-but not worth the risk of missing parts).

The Carbs are virtually the same on each model except the Blast carb is machined for the AE and TPS and the accelerator pump isn't finished.
