Here is the story: my Blast doesn’t want to start. I put the battery on the charger and after 1 hour it says it’s full and working, but when I reinstall it, the bike doesn’t start anyway, I just hear the click. Try to push start, and she finally decides to work. So I drive it to the nearest repair shop and ask them to give it a look. The mechanic leave the battery on charge 48 hours, and declares it’s dead. OK, maybe my charger was too optimistic... Anyway, he then tell me he has to put a new battery to be able to perform a diagnostic, because my battery is so dead he can’t do it even keeping the battery plugged to the charger. The go on asking 150$ for a new battery. Now, with 75 you can already get a pretty decent Yuasa so the price seems a tad to high, and secondly, how is it that he can’t run a diagnostic without a working battery? Does it make sense to you? I feel like he is trying to find excuses to charge me as much as possible, but maybe I am too defensive. Any advise? | ||

Yes. Buy a new battery elsewhere. Put it in your bike. Diagnose it yourself. It won't be difficult. | ||

For $150 could could get a LFP-4 battery and still have change left over. | ||

Just make certain it's a "leak proof" type, an AGM or gel type. Because of the way they mount a "flooded" battery will leak allover and make a real mess. | ||

As the Blast I have gets older I am seeing all sorts of strange electrical issues. None with the harness, but the switches. These seem to give problems. |
