Thinking about picking up an 01 blast. Seller says that the "primary guide" needs to be replaced. Any suggestions and can I still find parts for it? Hes asking $500 for the bike so Im really thinking about pulling the trigger on it.

I couldn't find a "Start new thread" for the blast forum. I've been around a bit as I owned a Uly a couple years ago.

Also, can the blast handle 2 up riding?

You can still get parts and parts are often interchangeable or adaptable from othe Buells and Sportsters.

Depends on your definition of 2-up riding. It's good for about 300lbs. I wouldn't say it's great for long, day after day touring. How comfortable it is would depend on the rider and passengers size. But it will do it.

EZ, where is the shock from? Is there a part number foe the one that adapts to the Blast?
Thanks,
Kevin

Just depends on your weight for which shock would use - 190lbs or more would use the 1000 rated shock spring vs using the 800 stock spring spec spring.

Jealous of that blast, EZ. Those are the shocks that just bolt in with a few washers, right? How does it improve the ride? I've been wanting a stiffer suspension. What is the stock spring rate for comparison?

Stock is 800 this is at 1000 just like my Works shock - both front and rear are much stiffer - ready for a bigger guy to ride. A much better ride through the twisties. 8 3/8" washers for the top and 8 more for the bottom - split 4 to a side.

Would 1200 be too much? The 1000 is currently unavailable.

Amazon has the 1000 - 1200 would be pretty stiff, unless over 230lbs - lol

I weigh around 220 lbs, I would like to occasionally take the girl on the back, so that is something I'm taking into consideration as well. Is 270mm or 280mm considered preferable? I've seen both lengths listed. I don't care about a slight raise in seat height.

Thanks for the input, the suspension is one thing I've wanted to improve on my Blast for a while now, and this winter it is number one on my to do list.

You'll need either a Works or Race Tech front end kit to balance everything out.

Got the shock yesterday. Looks nice. Need to make brackets to mount the canister.
Front end is M2, running 17" wheels on both ends with 15/45 520 chain.

So I can't find the DNM 1000 in/lb shock, when I follow your link to the Amazon page, the shock is listed as unavailable. After doing some research, came across this shock with 1000 in/lb spring rate on the Buell Riders Online forum. Will this shock be a viable alternative to give a stiffer ride? I can't find all the measurements for the shock to tell if it will fit either.

The link states that it is 1000 lb/in, that is the spring weight, correct? I was under the impression that is what was wanted?

I am looking for some help. Could someone, while holding their stock Blast upright and off the side stand, measure from the lower front engine strut bar to the ground. And also, from the kickstand bracket under the transmission to the ground.
I screwed up and tore the bike down before taking these measurements.
Thank you in advance

I cannot bleed my rear brake, I have a suction bleeder, the fluid is not passing from the reservoir thru the master and to the caliper, what can be blocking it.
The fluid runs out freely from the reservoir to the master when I pull the line off the master, is there a check vale in there that could be sticking
