A friend of mine passed last saturday - of course - schmuck that I am, I didn't hear till wednesday. He had been dieing of cancer for a while, yet he said he'd wait and ride with me, I'm sorry to say he never made that ride. Most of you know that I am disabled since a lady T-boned me and then tried to drive away - both shoulder and knee. Still I would try to do a few hours each day working on the bike to get it going, and then take a pain pill and do what extra I could - always with the goal in mind that we would have a ride together. Now that plan is canceled, though in my riding I'll remember him, and others, still it is not the same. If you can ride - ride. Do not go gently into that good night. Ride! I will - and I'll think of Brian, and Gino, and others who missed that in their lives and wanted nothing more than to ride again, to feel that freedom and peace that is riding. If we can ride - then we have nothing to complain about - go ride! I will. RIP Brian, RIP Geno - two brothers that just wanted to ride. EZ |

My condolences, but your bike ride hasn't been canceled, just postponed. If you are a believer anyway. (Message edited by Wolffsoul on February 27, 2015) |

Sorry EZ. That was very well said! I also lost two rider friends, one to a accident and the other to that stupid 'C' disease. Very unfair, and just wrong. To young... Ride Safe and Enjoy. |

My condolences. What Wolfsoul said. The unfortunate part of getting older is watching your friends die. The other option is worse. |

Went to Terry Parsley's birthday party and learned some more about Blast mods - terry is going to have a new crank for his 650cc Blast bringing it to 730cc and he is going to put that motor in his new streamlined chasis for the single 750cc record and then swap it out to a severely modified XB9 motor to take the 1000cc record. Good times ahead. The crank is from Falcon and then lightened and balanced some more at Revolution to a 3rd of it's weight - now being a porkchop style. I'm going to start on Starkiller's rebuild now and go for a Blast flat tracker style cafe - should be different. EZ |

Long hard day. Started innocently, changed the plug out to the cooler Brisk multi-spark plug, when I checked compression - figured tune was close enough plug could do it's job and not worry about being drowned out. first issue - idle is too low, second - everything else is now a tad lean. First I check boot - is good. second I bring idle up, noticing bike is lean at start, but falls into place once warmed up showing low jet ok, make sure idle air screw adjusted right, removed .007 shim and put in .010 shim - things better there. Turned up Intellijet 1 1/2 turns out - finally everything back to normal. Still - on cold start bike acted like auto-choke was not working - during one of the test rides I also managed to drop the bike on myself in the garage - thought kick stand was down - sigh - so I finished off sore at the days end. Who knew changing a plug could cause so much hassle - still will have to look into trouble shooting enrichner - tomorrow has to be a better day. Final carb tuning - 46/160, one .010shim on Yost Blue needle 2nd clip from the nose, Yost spring, 1 1/2 turns in from full lean on intellijet. EZ (Message edited by ezblast on March 31, 2015) |

So final jetting for the cooler 8 Brisk plug and all my mods is - Intellijet 2 turns out, primary 45, main 165, yost tube, spring, and blue needle at second clip from needle's nose - shimed 0.017" - note to all Blastards - your bike is real lean the first 20 minutes of riding - the enrichner will only cover the first 8 to 10 minutes and only the idle area - so take it easy then on the ride, let her warm up - about 20 minutes to 1/2 hr - depending on how cold the weather - then dog her - she'll be ready for it then. It's amazing how when the bike is warmed up, the AF values fall right into place, the idle is good, and everything is golden, cold - jeez it's just scary how lean the bike is practically a two point difference - which is livable if your boot is fine, but not? - that would be a potential recipe for major fubar. Did the Carburetor Mods (Intellijet, Yost Tube) you made on this bike make that big a difference over the Basic Carburetor Mods on your previous bikes Performance Wise? I never could justify cost for a basic street bike when you don't know what the pump gas is going to be like from one tank to the next. |

Fireman Jim was right - the vacuum plug had a small tear in it - probably from taking it off and on so many times! Took the 0.01 shim out and everything is now good! Final jetting for the Brisk 08 multispark plug is - Intellijet at minimum, primary jet at 46, main jet at 165, yost tube with yost spring, and yost blue needle at third clip from the nose with a 0.010 shim - making my af between 13.00 and 14.5 - perfect. The Yost tube, spring and blue needle worked very well with both the Intellijet and Dial a jet set up - protecting against any lean conditions and making acceleration much more linear and even, and faster! I understand your feelings - the very reason I got an af gauge as well. EZ (Message edited by ezblast on April 10, 2015) (Message edited by ezblast on April 19, 2015) |

Finally achieved Healing goal #1 - rode to church and back, no muss, fuss or freakouts, no one taking my right of way, just a nice peaceful ride. My longest ride so far, and the one that signifies I got back on the horse - since it was a church ride where my right of way was taken and I got hit - sigh... Still I am very happy with today's ride - the bike was flawless and the weather perfect. EZ |

I'm glad to hear that EZ. I'm currently on my first ride after I wrecked the Sunday before last. So far so good, but I'll have to be careful since I now have a new tire on my rear. |

OK - today was a very nice day - spent the morning goofing with the dogs - walks, tugs of war, usual stuff - then lunch break and prep bike for a nice little test ride with Nick - re-adjusted shock so wouldn't get air on hard bumps - it worked! Nick showed up and after talking about that Lectron carb, and checking out the latest evolutions on both bikes - we headed out to a nice little back road with plenty of twists. This time I was able to go much faster and not have lift off, was easily able to keep it to 20 over - lol - perfect! on the way back we hit the gas station for a cool down drink and a guy with a new Busa shows up and starts asking about our bikes - Barry - he said his name was - a welder - nice guy - he was really interested - thought they were stock until we showed him pictures of stock Blasts - then he really got into the mods - after finding out how easy it was, I'm sure we left that little mouse in his head saying he needs a Blast - lol - must say the mods on Nick's bike are really starting to help in pick up and go, and at the home garage I welcomed him to the dark side! Then some chicken and russian potato salad and chocolate muffins - beer was on hand but he had to go - errands for his lady called. Still it was a great day, and Nick is slowly getting used to folks stopping to just ask about the bike. A great time! EZ |

LOL - the pushrod o-rings went while on a ride with Nick - we still haven't figured out how, though the rings look gashed - in 2 1/2 hours we tore it down and rebuilt it replacing the o-rings, and rocker gasket. Test rode her, and no more leaking. New world record - great team work and wrenching! Thank you Nick! Great job all around! EZ |

I took a ride just to clear my head, for I had lost a friend and family member – my dog Kublai had died. No more would I hear his gallop and thump onto the bed, starting my day. I rode on – the cold sunny day brushing the moisture from my face. The peace of the ride takes over, and calm blesses my heart. I pull into a coffee shop and order a large – time to warm up these bones. As I sit sipping java, I am constantly asked questions about my bike, I smile and answer, an old game this – still a good distraction for the loss, but like an arrow my mind flies back to target. A big part of my daily life is now gone – I get back on the bike and ride on. The day warms a bit with the sun in my face, calm settles my mind. As I turn around to head for home I see the flash of his smile as he turned to me, a ball to chase, a mad locomotive gone! I go home knowing I’ll never see that again, but also know that all his pain is now gone, and he can run free under heaven’s sun. I ride on, calm, my motor a quiet melody to me – at a light I am asked how much for the bike – thinking of what is good in my life I holler back – priceless! As is my wife, home, family and friends, an old motorcycle, and the love I’ve shared with a crazy German Shepherd and a furry little dog. Riding I realize that we carry the world’s true riches in our heart, and that everything outside of that is just that. I pull in to home and listen to the idling bike, a steady strong pulse, then silence as the switch is flipped. I look to my door and sigh, I will miss that dog by my side, yet in my heart I know he resides. I go in and my wife asks – “Are you ok?” I look into her eyes and reply – “It was a good ride.” EZ |

Good news!!! Meet the newest member of our family pack - Sven - a 1 1/2 yr. old GSD we rescued - he is a growing boy, but has a really great attitude!
Also - I am managing to get some riding in between storms. Thursdays are my lunch meetings with Michael - a retired school and TaiChi teacher. Usually I'll put in about 1/2 hour riding, then lunch, and then the long way home - lol - this means at least two rides a week - church being the other.
