How's everyone doing. I just bought a 2005 buell blast with 1,375 miles for $700 . it was bought for someone's wife , after she laid it down she would not ride it again. So it sat for awhile and was used as a trade in on a car. I got the blast from the owner of the dealership for the price he got it for " it was in his garage when I was doing work at his house ". I changed the oil and trans oil , I adjusted the primary chain tensioner since the spacer was still in , and I emptied the bad gas and cleaned the carb. I have a mis at idle " only at first warm up " , but after it warms up the mis goes away. I also did a static timing adjustment, but the mis is still there. It may not even be a mis , but it feels like it. I also changed the intake boot and drilled out the air fuel adjustments screw , so I can set it manually. One thing I did not do is change the air filter. I did notice that if I turn the air fuel screw out 2 full turns or more , I get a nice backfire through the carb, so I have to keep the air fuel to about 1 and 3/4 turns out. This may be because the air filter may need changed , it doesn't look bad but it is ten years old, so I should change it. If anyone has any ideas they would be very appreciated. Thanks |

A stumble or burble after a cold start is pretty common; does it run at higher rpm for a while and then slow down as it warms up? If not, you may have a malfunctioning auto enrichener. |

Yes , the auto choke seems to be performing as it should. The rpms will rise after about 10 seconds , then come back down after about 30 or more seconds. The mis also seems to go away after the auto choke engages and also seems to go away after it closes off the extra fuel. I does sound more like a miss then anything else , but I would expect if it were a miss it would not only happen at a cold start idle. When it does happen , it sometimes nearly shuts the bike down. When it comes to the blast , I'm just getting acquainted with her, so if you think it is pretty much normal , I won't waste my time trying to fix something that may not need fixed. I'll post a video of the blast at warmup , so u can get a better idea if its normal or not. Thank you and I really appreciate it. |

With only 1400 miles, the spark plug should be fine, though it would be something to check. Also the ohms of the spark plug wire; my '01 wire was out of spec on the high side. |

Thanks , sorry , i didnt mention that i did replace the plug , but I did not check the coil. Its just strange that it does it only during warmup. I'll also get that video up soon . |

I found the issue while back. The blast was running way too lean . I have the air fuel set at 2/34 turns out , and the miss went away. |
