Hey, Just got this 2003 blast in on a trade, the guy was about 80% in on a cafe racer conversion. Basically where I am at: All the electrical system is just hanging there. The rear subframe has been removed and a nw one has been fabbed for the cafe racer seat. There is no air cleaner on the back of the carb. What I did, just to get it running initially was take every wire that appeared to be a ground and atached them to the negative battery terminal. Every red wire I attached to the positive battery terminal. Like I said, everything else is just hanging there except the voltage regulator, which is half ass zip tied to the new subframe. Symptoms: The bike starts up easily. From there it goes into a high idle for about 20 seconds, at which point it starts to backfireonce every 3 or 4 seconds, then becomes more frequent until it dies and will not re-start, gasoline vapors pour out the back of the carb. Turn the ignition of for a couple of minutes, and then you can repeat this process. I actually killed the battery the last time I tried this... I have no clue where to start..? |
