Merry Christmas! Thank you for all the great advice. 2014 will be a great year for riding. The Buell will be my around town commuter bike. My old '49 Panhead will be for the weekends. I've also got a complete 1977 Triumph Bonneville in boxes. Hope to get to that someday. They make sweet bobbers. |

Crazy question for you..... Is there someone that makes a kick starter for the Blast? I've never owned a bike with electric start! Why start now? LOL! |

I guess I should have also asked mileage. $3600+ depending on mileage and condition. Deduct $$ if anything has been changed. Factory accessories add $$. That's my opinion. You could pay more and not feel bad about it, especially if its mint. Granted, some would see more value in it as a last year Blast (as I would). |

Happy 2014 to all my old friends here in the THUMPer forum. I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year. I am still riding the '09, although it gets out of the garage less frequently than my other two. I have been spending way more time on the CTX700 my hubby bought for me at the end of July. That being said I wanted to give you a heads up to keep your eye out for a new member from Michigan. I know you will all be kind and generous with information, tips and your expansive knowledge. He will identify himself as the owner of my first Blast, the '05 that broke down several years ago. It is now in the hands of my nephew who hopes to once again give it life. He has a challenge ahead of him. The main bearing/rod is trash on the motor, there is no exhaust, missing the intake, etc. But it will be an excellent project that he can take his time at and make his own. Next time I am out on the my Blast I will take a pic and post. I have been much kinder to this one, so I expect it to be rolling down those back-roads for years to come. EZ, Gearheaderiko and Swampy - a special Happy Trails to y'all |

Hey guys not too long ago I went to take off on my bike and my belt just snapped. I ride the 2005 blast p3. What type of belt do I need? |

G0500.01A7 Blast belt. There is an early belt that won't fit, so if it doesn't have the .01A7, don't buy it. |

"So easy a caveman could do it". Very, very easy. You'll need a torx 27 'socket' or screwdriver. (You have stock brake controls?) |

Yeah everything is stock on it sadly. It is my first bike and have had it for 5 months. I haven't gotten around to change anything on it yet. My first thing I will change is definitely the handle bars though. |

Nothing wrong with stock, it generally lasts longer and has higher resale. |

Just a general question here. I have noticed a very small oil leak from around the head of my bike which is a 2005 p3. What could possibly be wrong? It is not a huge leak to cause me worry and I keep the level filled but for future reference I am just wondering what the problem could be and what kind of work I am looking at putting into it. |

Most commonly it's the PCV grommet leaking. Not a big deal and all tend to leak a little. But without pictures I couldn't say what it is. |

I have an 07 Blast that cruises just fine at 60 mph, but at 70 or higher sustained speeds the engine will bog down. Can't figure out why it does that. I've already rebuilt the carb, replaced the coil, spark plug and spark plug wire but problem persists. Any ideas? |

Pogo, For what it is worth, check the fuel tank vent hose whenever anything strange is going down. I wasted half of a day rebuilding the carburetor to no avail, and ended up taking the fuel cap off and the problem went away. I doubt that you want to take the gas cap off to ride 70 mph so just remove the existing vent hose and push another short piece of hose on, pointed up in the air, and tie it fast to the handlebar for your test ride. I then replaced the fuel vent hose and everything has worked fine ever since. KennyG |

Concur (Kenny g)! First: did you do anything (or have anything done) to your bike before this started happening? Has it always done this? How many miles on your Blast ? Is your Blast stock? Primary chain too tight is a common cause of this. Too loose can cause this too, but most often its too tight. Has it been adjusted, ever? Is it a California Blast? I regret that you took the carb apart. It didn't need it and they rarely ever need to be taken apart especially on a bike that's 6 years old with low mileage. Lets hope you didn't cause any secondary problems (no offense, but it happens with extreme frequency). You're going to hear "das boot", which refers to the intake boot splitting which is a common cause of problems. It does not sound as if the boot is your problem, but it should not be overlooked. |

I'm thinking about picking up a second Blast for the wife and was wondering how many small/minor model or part changes there may have been post 2000. Mine is an '07 and I'd like to have them use all the same parts. |

99.99% of all parts are interchangeable. Buy a 2003 and later and they are 99.999999% identical. You won't be able to swap valve cover gaskets and you'd buy new ones of those anyway!!! They are virtually all the same. |
