I have the left side of the tranny case open. I am looking at the basket and I want to remove it. Looking at the clutch, before I can get to the large nut, there is a clutch piece I removed with a small flat bladed screwdriver, then under that another item. I see two circlips, one large and one very small one that is too small for the standard circlip pliers I have. Which of these need to be removed? I tried working the large one, but got nowhere. |

Hmm, unfortunately, the Blast does not have that allen bolt in the middle, as this video shows on a Harley. Apparently, it's equivalent is the very small snap ring that a pair of "standard" snap ring pliers won't fit. Thanks for the info. |

Have you followed the repair manual? You do not need to remove the small clip. |

Apparently I missed something. So I only need to remove the large snap ring? My (cheap) pliers compress this ring a bit, but my guess is now I need a better set to compress the ring even more because the ring is still trapped in there when I am compressing it with the current tool. When I get home, I'll review the manual. (Message edited by titusand on August 26, 2013) |

I obtained Mac Tool snap ring pliers, and bada bing, bada boom, the snap ring came right off. Now it time to pull the basket. The stator side is snug and I still have it on there. The clutch side feels ready to remove, but the stator side is tight enough that my idea was to get a tool to coax it out. Any ideas? |

FYI: the rotor us a big magnet, so unless its very bad it won't just slide off. |

Correct.... so is there any mechanical advantage, like leverage or some tool, I can safely use to help it go off? |

Sorry, I was hoping to get out to the shop and check parts. Some rotors have threaded holes so you can use bolts to push or pull the giant magnet off. I never got out to the shop though. Sycho did this repair a couple months ago and I was hoping he'd chime in with his experience, but he hasn't and he hasn't answered my texts. Sorry for the non help here. I'm on the road for the next 5 days (630 miles today!!) so I can't do anything for you. |

I got it off. I used a Wunderbar to ease it out the first inch, then I pulled on the right, then the left, etc. until it came off. |

The bike will not shift higher than 2nd. I am now looking at the detent plate and it, the clip, and the pins appear to my untrained eyes to be fine, but apparantly even then it can cause shifting problems, as I understand. |

Well, you're looking for a new problem. The pins aren't likely to change position enough to leave you locked out of other gears (they can, but its rare). Doing the "shifter pawl adjustment" usually improves shifting that was bad from the factory, it's not usually done to fix a new problem. Look for a loose bolt, broken clip, etc. Sometimes the trans will jam, but that usually fixes itself in short order after a few shifts. |

I found the problem. The detent plate had jumped the drum pins. The detent plate was not correctly aligned. I put on a new plate and C clip. QUESTION: How to get the chain guide shoe and spring on??? I've been able to put it part way only. Should I put the spring on shoe and then attempt to install, or put the spring on the bike and then put the shoe on it? |

Good news! There's a trick to it and you found it! I'm also glad you found the problem. |
