Greetings! I was very happy to find a community like this after I bought this bike yesterday, so thanks for being around! The bike runs pretty well, needs some fluids and is missing a couple of bolts, but I have a couple of questions that I ran into while doing the detailed inspection earlier today. I checked the service manual but I couldn't determine whether a particular hose was a drain/vent or if it should be terminated somewhere. So... I believe that the hose in question is either the oil reservoir feed or drain hose (figure 3-83 http://cageesn.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/buell-blast-chapter-3-engine2.pdf) Here is what it looks like on my bike:
I know about the missing flange bolt and the broken bolt. I am unsure as to whether I should cap it off, leave it be or terminate it somewhere. Thanks, and more questions to come as I work my way through. Cheers! |

Where does it end - over the engine or on top of the tranny case - I suspect it is your tranny vent line, but if it is over, then it is your breather line. Leave alone if vent, and if stock it goes in airbox, probably rerouted out because spitting oil on filter - put a http://www.knfilters.com/search/univ2.aspx?id=S006 9 on the end, secure with hose clamp, and then ziptie to secure filter - several options to where are available. It was indeed the breather line for the air box. I discovered that the venturi gasket was broken and the gold screw that the hose attached to on the carb was missing. I learned a lot, thanks for the suggesting the starting point! |
