Get rid of the Dunflops and you'll probably not fall as easily. Too nice to constantly drop due to those shit tires. EZ |

EZ, I already have a Pirelli MT75 in hand - in fact I tried to get it mounted last saturday, I had the wheel off the bike and with just hand tools and without the bead breaker/tire machine we just could not do it, i had to give up and put the wheel back on and save the $75 every shop is charging to install a tire if I bring in the bike and the tire (cos I don't have anything to jack up the bike with in my apartment's carport)... I'll have the $$ for the install saturday. I'm betting the dunlops are a good part of why I've dumped the bike twice. how about this damned weather, though!? 93*F, overcast, feels like 90% humidity and it's drizzling, somehow making it hotter. |

Blackblue, Parts411 up in Pomona is where I have my tires done and they only charge $35.00 per tire. |

To check the primary fluid you have to remove the clutch cover and most likely your Y-frame (though there is a way not to, yours are bent in and will need to be moved). Its easier just to change the fluid if you are going to anyway. Use the easy method filling through the vent tube and you'll save the hassle of the Y-frames. |

Make sure the dunflops are gone before you do any real riding, and you may be safe. EZ |

Sycho, Thanks for the tip, that's gonna save me a fortune for this sunday's Pizza Port & Beer budget. I'll make the ride out to Pomona if they'll be open tomorrow since I work in Industry every day anyways, that's not really that much more of a ride. I was curious how to check the trans fluid (standard 20W50 auto-grade oil, right?) level cos I'm pretty sure I'm occasionally hearing some sort of slight noise from in there under partial throttle at low speeds. For a bit I wasn't sure if I was imagining it, hearing pinging or what... The rest of the time I don't hear anything unusual - but I'd like to address whatever it is before it becomes anything expensive. Also managed to ride home safely despite the rain. Trying my damndest to ride ultra-conservative to take it easy on that stupid dunlop up front. |

Just confirmed with Parts 411 - tire install, if you ride the bike in, is $45 for the front. DGAF tho cos that's still $30 cheaper than local joints and as tight as cash is for me every dollar counts. And are open Saturdays 10-2 |

Primary is trans fluid, same fluid reservoir. Synthetic only. Regular oil will mess it up. (see my above post). Probably need a chain adjustment. |

seems like it only makes the noise when I'm going up a hill, too. Full-syn it is. What materials will I need to make the chain adjustment, and how much down time should I plan for? B&B |

10 minutes-1 hour depending on your ability and obsessiveness! I think it's a 7/8" wrench and a 3/4" wrench if you do the "by ear" method. You'll need an INCH lbs torque wrench if you follow the manual. I recommend doing it both ways your first time. Adjust per manual (12+ flats out) then follow up "by ear". It doesn't get any closer than that! |

I checked out the method in the manual, but there's no sound described - is the bike supposed to be on, or is something supposed to move that I should hear? And to keep things on topic, after I got the MT75 mounted up front this weekend I polished up the bike using the Mothers Powerball Headlight Restoration Kit. Much glossier, yeah? a different angle than usual preview of the bags I scored for $40 on ebay. enhanced glossitude. |

I copied this from the primary section although this method is listed in various places by other posters. It is a little subjective and not everyone is going to get this method from the get go. But combine this with the 'adjusted' factory repair manual method and you cant get much closer. It may take practice to get a feel for it. But if you defer to the adjusted factory method if unsure, you know you'll be at least close. EZ's Sound Method: Ride bike for a half hour - then park while running on flat level ground, take 2 adjustable wrenches - one for the adjuster and one for the locking nut - loosen till you hear a change in sound, then tighten till sound goes away - stop - hold adjuster bolt in place and tighten locking nut - done. Note - if you suspect your chain is too loose - the telltale would be sound (anything from a box of rocks to a whir sound)- then tighten till sound stops - slight sound ok, etc. EZ |

This weekend I've got quite the itinerary planned for the Blast. Haven't been riding the past two weeks because of the heat and the head oil leak. I'll be replacing the Isolator Mount as well as the HG - I'll be home all weekend in anaheim if anyone wants to stop by for a brewski - i could use an extra set of eyes on my work. -B&B |

Certainly one of the better efforts I've seen! The rear belt looks good on it, congruous with the theme, especially since it wasn't the easy way out of going to a chain. I like it too! |

Just finished the tail chop. Still have to tuck the wiring out of the way. Want to add a LED strip on plate for extra brake light too. New ones just don't seem that bright too me. Rather know for sure the car behind me knows I'm stopping... |

It's just 2 3" rubber 90° and a 45°. 2 1/2 inch pod filter. I machined a nylon adapter for the carb. It's supported with bracket on the left side. I wanted to make something that would take up all that empty space. |
