If you have a front Dunlop, I'd replace it. But you dont need to replace tires as a set (Ideally yes, but its a waste of money). |

I have Dunlop in the front (which is getting low on tread), so I'll replace that (hopefully) soon; and I have Pirelli MT75 on the rear (with better tread than front). Sounds like I should order Pirelli MT75 when I replace the front tire? What size should I order? |

The MT75 only comes in 2 sizes 16" & 17". Just order the 16" front. |

Just put some pirelli st-66 tires on my blast rear 140-70-16 and 110-80-16 up front. My tire history has been new dunlops when I bought the bike the rear lasted around 3500 miles, replaced it with perilli mt75 120-80-16 which lasted about 3500 miles. The dunlop was still on the front with about 7000 miles on it still some tread but allot of little cracks. So they both went this time. I already see an improvement in the bikes old habit of wanting to follow any crack in the road and it seems to lean smoother and feels a little more stable in turns. |

Going to order an Avon AM26 120/80V-16 for the rear and a couple tire irons. Anything else I need to get? I saw an instructional somewhere around here, but I may just bring them in for the balancing. |

If your wheel spins freely on the bearings you can balance it yourself. Rears are much less critical than fronts if you get it wrong. Order yourself about 2 ounces of stick on weights. You wont need that much though. |

Cyclegear does balancing for free. EZ |

For the rear wheel the service manual talks about replacing some "hardened washers," is this required? Hopefully the tire will be here Monday. |

Are you replacing or removing the sprocket? No you do not have to replace the washers. |

Just replacing the tire. Guess I read too far into the disassembly. |

Tire change went well. Only hard part was breaking the bead. I really like the Avon, handles a lot better now - only problem is that now the rubber on the bottom of the foot pegs is starting to wear out |

Going to swap out the front tire now too. I was looking at getting the matching front Avon, but the closest size I found is: 100/80V-17 I am looking for a 16 in place of the 17, right? |

16" or yes. Avon makes them. If in doubt, look under 'scooter'. But they do come in 'regular' mc tires too. |

I only see them in a 100/90x16 Maybe they stopped making them in the Blast size. Look under scooter or you can run the same tire as you've got on the rear, on the front (or so i've been told). Or run the 90 series. |

guess I'll go with the MT 75 Pirelli I've read about people putting mismatched tires on, but it seems a bit odd. Is there any concerns about mixing? |

No big concerns. Thats the best tire for the front anyway. |

Hey everybody, i'm purchasing my first set of tires for my blast and having one hell of a time. The only Pirelli Diablo 140/70-16 tires i can find that fit the blast are technically scooter tires. Are these the right ones? |

Yes, those are the right tires. I just bought myself a Pirelli MT75 for the front and I am using the Kenda 140 cruiser tire out back. But again yes, "Scooter" tires are the right ones. |

The Kenda will give you about 1500 miles before cords start showing. |

The kenda will not hold its bead - ditch it and get any of the others in the oversized. The only tire worse than the Kenda is the Dunlop. Get the Pirelli F&R in the oversized and enjoy long life and performance. EZ |

I'm planning on buying new tires this winter, what's the best bang for the buck tire out there? |

What do you want in a tire? Though it doesn't matter as Pirelli is going to be the answer. Quality tires and a budget price. |

I don't really know what i'm looking for. I've been riding for less than a month. I guess something with good grip, good when it's wet, and decent life. |

Well, if you've been riding for a month, then get the stock (on later models) Pirelli MT75's. It doesnt get any better. If (if) you wear the rear out, then you might (but not necessarily) want to change to a different Pirelli, but lets get some miles on first (FWIW: We raced on MT75's) before you make a decision on something you havent really had any experience on. They are also cheap and only come in a 16" (Blast) or 17" (Aprilia) tire sizes. So unless you order the one for the Aprilia, you wont get the wrong size! |

another newb question, if I remove the wheels to get the tires changed (so I don't get charged for labor by the shop), what is the best way to prop up the bike? |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/128047.html Though proper motorcycle stands work best, but that'll set you back $100+ for a pair. Well worth it if you'll be working on bikes for a long time though. |

Awesome thanks. One more question and i'm done for a while lol. I want to replace the dunlops (bike is an 02 with original tires) if I can't afford to replace both at the same time, which should I do first? |

If they have tread:The front. The rear will wear out fast, but the front will save your life. Pirelli tires right? DONT RUN DUNLOPS. |
