I personally think it is funny how H-D(spit) dumped Buell, then they are eyeing the Indo market, but Buell is now holding hands with largest motorcycle manufacturer in India! That is like the football sack with the quarterback breaking his leg and then the next play making an end run for 99 yards! Yes Virgina, the motorcycle rags have been sending up smoke signals about the mothership getting into the small bike market, but that has been a regular occurrence for the last 15 years, I know giant corporations are slow to move but I just wouldn't hold my breath. The current commander and thief running H-D(spit) is the silly operator that did pull the plug in the first place, and they were depending on Buell talent for some of their engineering, and he does have a propensity to tell fibs. The magazines are probably talking with some forward thinking H-D(spit) upitty up over beers and for one salient moment the guy said "we ought to make an entry level bike, miss, can I have another beer?" Remember, The "Blast" was still on the showroom floor in 2010 but they were not for sale they were only there for riders edge and for the salesman to say "really honey, for just a little more we can move you up to a real motorcycle..." I have spoken, so be it....LOL! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, I am in Florida as I write, spending time with my dear mother-in-law, it is her first Christmas alone so it is pretty vanilla, but the sun is shining! |

Ever think about a HARLEY-DAVIDSON "SPORTSTER" lever ??? |

Never thought of a Sportster lever. Is the diameter of the shaft (where the shifter lever attaches) the same on the Blast as a Sportster |

First time logging on in a while. I missed you guys, I feel smarter about my bike already just looking at this bleak and boring layout haha. As for H-D(spit indeed) using buell talent and ideas. Have you guys seen the XR1200 enduro (Ulysses rip off) bike? I have to give it to them, its cool. I have never liked Harley, and a few months ago when I found out the XB were supposed to be turboed from factory but H-D's(spit!) ego and poor management got in the way to f it up. I am starting to pick the deer hair out of the front of my blast that has been there since October, and am looking for a new front end as one of my forks is bent. I will be blowing up the boards to get you knowledgeable gents to possibly help me find direction with a new steering head, triple tree and forks. |

One of the moderators should remove the "links" to the Blast manuals, as they are dead links now. |

Hi Ed It's over a year since we last wrote you and for that we're really sorry. We're not going to try it on with any excuses or fibs to make you feel sorry for us (like the things you used to tell your Mum in the hope that you'd get away with stuff), just good old fashioned honesty. We've had a lot to do, we've had some setbacks caused by a couple of so-called 'big brains' who turned out to know less than us and some who just plainly couldn't do what they said they could. We've made the odd -up too. But here's the 'stop press' (an expression which comes from the printing industry when an item of news should be included in the print-run) ; The prototype 'Spud' is now running and we'll post some amateur, wobbly-hand video on the blog shortly to prove it. We're testing the prototype up and down the Worcestershire lanes with a handful of test-pilots (known for their lunacy), fiddling with settings and components to find the right set-up. We are setting-up a small production space aka. 'a shed', close-by and the jig for making the frames is underway. 'Craig the CAD' is doing the production and tooling drawings for us to give to specialist manufacturers. There'll be more about Craig on our 'Chin Wag' blog shortly. We're also doing some work to improve the Mac website, we want it to do much more for you than it does right now and we'd welcome your suggestions for what you'd like to see and what you'd like it to do. We've made a commitment to a chap in Nebraska, USA to produce and deliver a rolling-chassis in the next few months into which he's going to fit a Buell Blast motor, with some help from a buddy nearby. We'll open a formal order-book soon but not before we're certain the bikes are sorted and we can deliver what you ask of us. We really appreciate your unstinting support and extraordinary patience but we're going to get this right and we're not going to mess anyone about when we finally put out the 'open' sign. As always, if you want to 'get something off your chest', we want to hear it, don't be shy, tell us straight what you think and we'll take it on-board (but mind your language 'The Glamorous Assistant' sees and hears everything around here !) Thank-you kindly for sticking with us, without you, Mac would be an owners' club of one. YS Miss Tracey Price aka. Stockp3blaster

Muffler back to stock I recently bought a blaster for the wife to learn on, it had a sporty exhaust on it, it's loud and to close to the legs when she puts her feet down. So I am trying to get back to stock. I have a muffler and a lower strap but am missing the Grommets for the front mount and the "clamps" that sit above the rear strap in the rear. If anyone has measurements of those clamps I can make them, as far as the grommets go if I can get a part # or find a place to order them I will or I will just "fabricate" one from about 6. Thanks a ton! Some one decided to take a bunch of things off of this and not put them back on, I assume to make it faster, but it was absolutely terrible to start. Now I have put the factory air cleaner back on and the stock exhaust (its hung but not able to be ridden...and it fires right up, my guess is they didn't jet it right. Any help you can offer I would appreciate thanks! Also, my title says this bike is a 600? I thought they were all 500cc. Please email me! (With the measurements of those rear "clamps"), I will check back here as well, but I will get the email on my phone, where it is handy. Thanks! Mccrea@webbwireless.net |

Hey guys, first post over here on badweatherbikers. This forum is setup is a little strange to me so I guess my introduction can just go here in the public section. Hope that is alright. Anyways my name is Mitch, I'm 21 and just bought my first bike which is a 2003 Blast. I've been a gear head for years and also have a pretty nice camaro, but the world of bikes is easier to play in with a college budget. Anyways I picked up my blast today from a local friend here in bloomington, IN. I gave 1300 bucks for it. It's a black 2003 with 5300 miles. It runs decently but could use some TLC. It was the previous owners first bike and he had dropped it a couple times. The damage is just cosmetic and I read on here the color runs all the way through the plastics so I can sand it down, buff it up with the porter cable, and it should look good as new. Another issue it has is exhaust. There is a crack in the header(at least that's what i'd call it as a car guy...not sure what the bike term is) but the pipe leading down to the muffler. It's cracked towards the bottom and the vibration from the thumper really rattles that thing. I need to take care of it asap. Can anyone recommend a decent aftermarket exhaust that is cheap? I don't need super loud or shiny or anything. Just something decent will do just fine. I also need to look into the follow replacement parts. So if anyone has a hook up on these I would really appreciate it. 1. Chrome headlight bezel(I would actually prefer black if they make black replacements) 2. Mirrors(any recommendations?) 3. Front turn signals Nice to meet all of you. -Mitch |

Howdy Mitch - check your exhaust mounting hardware for looseness - tighten up, get welded, then recheck mountings front to rear. Paint the bezel Black - use Rustoleum flat black. Both mirrors and signals have infinite choices - see the picture section for what I mean - lol Welcome! EZ |

There's a mirror/signal combo on ebay for $50 that look and work pretty good, I've been using it for about 3 months. |

Right on guys. Yeah I did more looking after I posted and decided on having the stock one welded up. All the aftermarket ones I found were way too loud and honestly I didn't think they were an improvement. Oddly enough with a small exhaust leak the bike actually sounds fantastic, but the rattle would drive me nuts. I would paint the bezel black, but it's toast. When the previous owner dropped the bike it messed up the bezel pretty bad. Found a website selling them, but they wanted 50 bucks...i'll have to look for a more creative solution. Anyone have a link to the good ebay mirror signal combo? I assume like any other ebay products they are very hit or miss. Thanks guys. |
