Bike ran fine a year ago, then sat until a couple weeks ago. Motor turns over, good spark when I pulled the plug, but doesn't catch. Before realizing how bad it was, I tried some starting fluid. Engine caught, ran for a second, then died again when the fluid burned off. Pulled the carb, checked the boot (looked fine, but replaced it anyway), and cleaned out main and slow jet + jet passages and the bowl. Didn't open up the top of the carb at all... I'd rather replace the carb if it came to that. Fuel is getting at least to the bowl, since it was full each time I've taken the carb off after attempting to start, but not sure from there. My plan (when the HD shop opens tomorrow) is to replace the plug (a bit black, but still sparking), and replace both jets. Any other thoughts, or things I should check out? I've been poring over other "non-start" issues here, but none seem to correspond to what I'm seeing on this one. |

Are you using fresh fuel? If the original gas is still in it that might be your problem. |
