Newb with another random question. Once in a while when i'm stopped at a light I'll feel a knock against my right knee (air filter?) and the bike will almost stop idling, then start right up again like nothing happened. anybody know what this is? |

How would I check if it's either of those? Like I said I'm totally new to all of this but I'd like to learn as much as I can. |

LOL! Engine noises can be a funny thing. Just today I was driving the ulysses to work, it was cold out. As the bike was idling I started hearing a knocking, up high by the front cylinder. I had replaced the rocker box gaskets last winter so I was concerned something was going wrong. the noise went away above idle but still sounded like a cylinder scraping! When I got home I was listening and really got my ear into it and isolated the noise to the upper steering head area, getting down on my knees and looking up I could see the horn vibrating wildly. When I touched it the noise went away. Not to tell me the horn was making the noise I would have said "no way" because I had investigated horn vibration after I first got the bike, and I thought I secured it when I upgraded my lights to HID but there it was making the noise. Use a sounding rod on the engine, you can pinpoint noises that way. Good luck, let us know what you find. |
