I have a 01 blast that is about to roll over to 2000 miles and I love it. But when I go riding for 10 or 20 miles and come to a stop it idles very fast. When I say fast I mean like half or 3/4 full throttle or it sounds that way. The bike has had a fresh oil change, new boot, running 93 pump gas. How can I fix it or is that normal?

Check your throttle cables. Make sure your new boot is not leaking. Check your fuel tank vent, some times when your fuel mixture goes lean the idle will go up.

A 2001 with only 2000 miles will likely have some serious varnish built up in the carb jets, so I would run some Seafoam through it.

Also, does it have the stock jetting? If so you will want to get larger primary and main jets.

2000 miles is not even broken in yet, wait till the 5000 mile mark and you will see an improvment in how things run.

Also first newbee's do when the boot goes or when the enrichner cuts off, and bike is not completely warmed up, rpms drop too low, so then they reset/raise the throttle idle.

I'm also having the same issue. Yesterday I took my bike out for a ride and it started idling high during stops midway through the ride. I would crack the throttle half way for just a second and the idle wouldn't drop for another good 2 seconds after I gave it some throttle. Also, could this be a related issue to my exhaust? I just repacked my V&H and replaced the baffle, and it -seems- to be running normal. The tempature is normal- kinda the cool side. The bike shakes more than normal when stopping, and I have noticed that the idle isn't dropping immediately like it should. It's raising immediately when I raise the throttle, but like I mentioned, it doesn't drop in idle for a good two seconds after giving it throttle. I ran some SeaFoam through it, and it felt better, but it didn't solve the issue. I read a lot of other posts, some suggested it could be a carb coupler issue or a boot issue. How would I know? I've only had the bike for a year (one whole season, I bought it last fall) and don't know very much about my bike yet, but this forum is helping me understand it A LOT better. So thanks everyone ALSO, unrelated to the issue, my bike is leaking oil at the upper motor mounts near the fuel tank. Easy fix or no?
