I'm assuming this will be pretty loud. I do go through neighborhoods regularly at about 3-4k steady state with the corner cut stocker, which seems almost benign db wise. I'm wondering if the sound with the longer internally protruding header will be louder than the D&D full system? Will steady state cruising through the neighborhoods in the 3-4k range be tolerable for the neighbors or will it conjure a noise complaint? What kind of sound levels can I expect on the hwy 4-6k steady state range or whacking the throttle? I do wear earplugs ,drive conservatively when appropriate but my current location has me thinking about the other guy, and not causing problems. I sure would like the power, drain plug accessibility, lighter weight though. Any insight or help would be great. |

If its too loud, you're too old! It'll be loud, but not open header loud. If you're planning on cruising neighborhoods at 3-4000 rpm, then you're just being an a-hole trying to make noise or that is how you'll be perceived. Cutting down on the revs will curb the noise when needed. If you're going fast enough to use 4000rpm, then no one is going to mind because you'll be long gone way before it gets annoying. In short, you don't have to make a lot of noise just because you have a loud exhaust. Get the Jardine with a quiet core. |

LOL. I didn't mean to make it sound like I cruise neighborhoods for the purpose of annoying people, I have to go through them to get to my riding spots or work or whatever.Lol.I actually don't want to offend any neighbors, oh wait a minute that's not what an a hole does....I'm confused. Read the post again and note: making noise is not one of the reasons for getting this exhaust. Yeah I've heard the too old too loud thing before,I may be old but I don' t mind loud. Just looking for some real world reports and clues....lol.... Anyway it seems like there aren' t too many using the D&D from all the searches I've done. It's either the VH or the Jardine..so if anyone can help describe the sound qualities of the D&D it would be helpful to me and no doubt others who are thinking about this system. Less loud than a regular d&d or force, deep sound - try it you;ll like it! EZ |

That sounds good Ed ,and as Erik mentioned if I stay out of the throttle noise levels may be managed. I imagine cold starts in cooler weather with the auto enricher on may be loud or is there a trick to manage this? With the recommended 48/180 .050" splitter combo (no yost or daj due to extreme laziness with just a hint of ignorance ) anyone care to hazard a guess for mpg @ up to 500'asl? I'm assuming there shouldn't be significant flat spots with good drive from the bottom?..? Thanks to all! |

That jetting is veryheavy on the rich side especially if you don't have any other mods besides an extra hole in the muffler. 40mpg around town maybe 50 highway. You'll do better with a good exhaust and less jetting. IMHO |

The jetting in the previous post is the recommended jetting for the d&d with the jardine header ,this is posted on the "Exhaust" page header thread at the bottom. All the questions in the previous post are for the d&d and jardine header. I took your advice Erik along with Ed a while ago and am currently running 45/170 .050" with the corner cut stocker and bent intake........and am pretty happy with it. I'm sorry once again if I wasn't clear, in my defense I'm typing all this on a smart(?) phone and feel a limitation. Thanks again . |

This question is relating to the d&d with the jardine header: With the recommended 48/180 .050" splitter combo (no yost or daj due to extreme laziness with just a hint of ignorance ) anyone care to hazard a guess for mpg @ up to 500'asl? Nope - no real flat spots - if your going to jet and shim you should do the yost tube. blue yost needle second from last clip down and yost shim - the funny part is the pipe set up is not as loud as the stock D&D set up, but way more power. EZ |

EZ sounds really tempting, I certainly appreciate your advice, feeling like I owe you here ......Any guess to mpg with this set up ? Not really looking for mpg just don't want to be startled after hitting reserve the first time . (Message edited by Xenox on June 25, 2012) |

Thanks.. I actually decided to get the full Jardine system w/quiet core, the previous suggestion by Erik helped a little lol. I really wanted the d&d can but didn't want to make problems noise wise...I guess I wimped out ,at least I'll have a real header instead of the tiny stock straw....I'll hold on to the stocker just in case. I'll be posting my experiences/observations in a week or two... Thanks. |

Use the front lower stock mounting with the Jardine, not what they supply you with. EZ |
