Well I've got some good news. I ordered the rest of my parts this past friday from NRHS. I should have the Blast up and running shortly after they get here. Right now it is just a complete short block with a swing arm and the rear wheel sitting on blocks in my garage floor right now. The rest of the bike is over in a corner waiting to be mated up with it.

So, how did the build go? I'm still waiting on a custom piston to work with my 4-valve head on my 600. --Nik

No where right now. Due to me working 14 hour days right now it's hard to do anything except sleep. I should have it up and running next weekend.

This has to be one of the smoothest running bike that I have been on in a long time short of a few inline 4s . The engine is smooth, gone is the vibration as you get on the gas. I think this has a lot to do with the bigger bore, I might be wrong. We noticed this with Tilley's big bore Blast that has stock cams and exhaust, just some head work and a custom piston. It's putting out somewhere around 42hp at the rear wheel.

I'm using Red shift 585 cams and a rare force pipe thats stepped 1 5/8 od. to 1 3/4 od. (cut the megaphone off)with a universal suppertrap on the end (20 disk).

Very Nice!A little extra lift to help the breathing even more over the XB but still very streetable! Good choice on the number of discs also. With the quality of your components you must be loving it! Can't wait for the dyno!

There's plenty of other goodies inside of the engine that nobody outside of the company knew about until recent and that is a secret.

Is it the 630/585 or the straight 585 cam? Just curious - did you do anything with the stroke or crank?

I don't have any pictures of it yet, so the pictures of my blast that you will see will not have the four valve in them. And it will be a while before that happens too.

I seem to remember reading that its possible to bore the case for the 600 cylinder without pulling the engine apart (just pulling the cylinder & piston off).
Anybody have that information?

Case have to be split and fly wheel removed.

Thanks Spooky, but I know what the traditional way to do it is but I remember reading that it could be done the other way,I just don't know where and if it was actually tried (maybe not even on a Blast motor).
Theoretically I know its possible but perhaps not practical and the tool to do it may not exist!

Seems if you bored the case without splitting the case you would spend more time getting the metal filings out of the machine then time saved. Do not know since I have never done this type of work.

Little up date on the engine no dyno time yet. Lost the belt on the way home from the beach and had another bike waiting on me when I got home. Now here is the fun part the bike will fly. Top speed in third gear is about 80 mph. Can we say FUN.

I've been to busy here recently to have time to get a belt much less ride. The breaking in was easy, ride the bike like you would every day.

This is an interesting board. My wife is riding a Blast from her MSF class. She likes it and is comfortable on it. At present, there are no HDs that she wants to even try at 5'4", 112 lbs. I was not impressed with the new Sportsters. They are still top heavy; she could not even get one off the kickstand. The coming 883L model only lowers the center of gravity about 2-3 inches. .

Are the 515cc or 600cc big bore kits from NRHS that you guys are discussing practical for street use for her? With her small size, the Blast can almost keep us with our HD's right now. It is certainly better in the mountains but lacks torque.

I am not sure why they call the 515 a "big bore" kit. It would seem to be a "high compression" kit instead. For the same price, the 600 kit would appears to be the better buy. Would the 600cc kit ant the upgraded factory muffler and breather kit be practical for everyday use?
