"What do you guys feel about taking her to a 515cc while I got her apart? Anyone done just the jug/piston swap and used same head and valves/cams?" I'd consider it a waste of money. Since you've got the cases empty, have them bored for the 600cc kit. Unless the 515 is on sale, its the same price for both kits. As it is the 515 is only a 3% increase in displacement. And if it comes with the CP piston, then you're likely to have problems (BAD problems). A 10.5:1 piston (CP okay here) in an overbore size is the cheaper and better way to go. The only reason I see to do a 515 is if it solves a problem. I did it when I needed a cylinder and piston ready to go for a race in 4 days. 515=problem solved! It however only lasted 500 miles under very close watch Please correct me if they solved the CP 515 problem as I seem to be out of the loop on some things. |

Please correct me if they solved the CP 515 problem as I seem to be out of the loop on some things. One of our BRO's is running a 515 kit with a CP piston. Turned out the cyl was out-of-round, but the piston has survived. (Message edited by Jet-Lee on March 18, 2012) |

I'm thinking an XB cylinder piston and head, then you can step up to some real cams and make the little 500 work...No amount of CC's are going to make up for a weinie cam... |

Now we're talking! 600cc's, XB top end, oh, yeah |

hmmm...I'm trying to decide if that means the problem is solved or not!?! We don't know, lol. But the jug went kaput and the piston stayed good, so maybe?? *shrug* No amount of CC's are going to make up for a weinie cam... Soo true! (Message edited by Jet-Lee on March 18, 2012) |

The belt runs on the right edge of the pully. Check the manual for the proper length of the turnbuckles. While they are adjustable, they should all be the same length. |

The length of the tie bars isn't in the manual (I never found it). I posted The length here on Badweb, but I can't search for it now and my repair manual is at home (with the tie bar length notes). |

i went with newer set of tiebars. they looked as if they had never been adjusted. all ive got left to change is the wheel bearings. |

FWIW: and it might be too late now, but the rear wheel, pulleys, swingarm is all non- adjustable from the factory. They only go on one way and the tiebars dont do anything to adjust it. If you had an untouched set of tiebars, then they're probably okay. Factory tie bar length: Eye to eye (center) 4.771" Eye to eye (outside) 5.142" Eye to eye (inside) 4.380" Overall length: 5.858" You can use the leftover tie bars to make the third tie bar that came on the 2000 model year and adds stability! Its a different length and you'll need the appropriate die to cut the threads. |

PS front and rear tiebars are identical in every way!!! |

I am kind of spooky about cheap fairings, the head lights are usually not DOT rated, in other words they are similar wattage as tail lights and are not suitable for headlights. Then when you put a higher wattage bulb in them the thermal plastic melts and then you are stuck with it. Ask them if the head lights are DOT rated, that will be the telling factor. |

You could just swap the stock headlight for one with a replaceable H4 bulb then put in a much higher wattage. I'm also very skeptical of aftermarket items like above as often they are more show than go. EZ is certainly the expert on that style since he's been using them forever (and there was a discussion about them very, very recently). |

Two brothers makes a Blast exhaust? No matter what you do, rejetting is minor, but I think I'd get it running first before you start getting creative. |
