k. I don't think it's the primary. I adjust by the sound method, and actually felt that I adjusted more to the loose end. It may be improperly adjusted clutch. I have wondered how tight "lightly seating" the nut means. Maybe too tight, or too loose? The extra work is on the list, I will do it, but after then end of July (my last test, ever hopefully) |

Are there any special tools needed to perform either one of these clutch mods? |

Yes - you will need a clutch spring Kit Tool - American Sport Bike sells them, and they are found elsewhere as well. Thats the tool mentioned as well in the manual - except theirs is their brand name. EZ |

I was referring to the parts listed in the service bulletin. Iron Machine lists the clutch lever as 03-09 XB silver for $24.95 So, we could use the xb black lever. And American Sport Bike has both the silver and black for $17.50 with hardware. |

Thanks for the Service bulletin. I got the parts and the American Sport Bike tool and a friend did the installation to my wife's Blast on Thursday. What a transformation to the clutch operation. Now it works like my XB clutch. When my wife is happy, I am happy. Thanks Badwebbers. |

The worst part of the job was knowing it would be harder to get the left footpeg bar back onto the bike. What a miserable, patience trying job that was. |

Hate to revive a four year old thread, but I need to get my head around a couple things. I'm going to to the Clutch Option for my wife's Blast. It also calls out for a replacement clutch lever, N1102.02A8. First question: Is the replacement clutch lever to allow for a little longer travel? Next question: Would something like these accomplish the same thing? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-CNC-Short-Brake-Clutch-L evers-for-Buell-XB12-XB9-Ulysses-XB12XT-XB12X-/140 984361232?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=it em20d352a110&vxp=mtr Thanks. |

Zombies, I did the clutch modification as shown in Service Bulletin B-101. You do need a lever that has more travel than the original Blast stock lever. The part numbers are screwed up on the retaining ring and if you are careful you don't even need to replace it. If you have not yet made the PVC Clutch Spring Compressor make this one http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/627777.html The spring compressor with the closed top is too difficult to get at the retaining ring. The correct retaining ring is a commonly used part for the Sportster clutch so you can wait to see if you need it and pick it up at the nearest Harley Dealer. I got twice the mileage out of a rear tire after making this change. Kenny G |

Thanks, Kenny...I did make that compressor, works like a champ...Now, I need to figure out of those adjustable short levers from ebay have enough adjustment in them for the necessary extra travel. |
