Lights & bar look nice. I couldn't help notice the brake fluid in the picture. That's the Prestone Synthetic DOT 3 isn't it? Don't you use DOT 4 in the Blast? Just curious. I flushed with the Castrol synthetic DOT3/DOT4 LMA (Low Moisture Absorption, but I had never experienced any brake fade or boiling brake fluid with whatever the factory uses. Robert |

Is there any reason I can't use the N1050.1AK Buell Heated Grips on an 02 Blast? It says it's for 06 & later, but I've got the pod with the opening for the heated grips... Any reason they wouldn't work? |

Aaaaand, the Blast decided it was sick of the stock exhaust & cracked the header right up by the cylinder. I suppose it's time to order a Jardine... |

Way too much money just spent on the Blast. One of Dan's custom intakes & a Jardine... |

The heated grips will bolt up, but the Blast never had the accessory electrical connector. I think American Sport Bike sells a wiring kit that will help you out. |

Parts in & installing now... The stock exhaust: That thing is HEAVY! I knew it was "heavy," but I didn't realize just how insane it is. Nearly 20lbs with mounting hardware! The Jardine is quite light... And Dan's intake kit is absolutely stellar. It comes with everything needed to install, it looks stunning, and he provides great directions. 100% recommend! He's right up there with XBLights in terms of "Awesome people providing awesome solutions to improve Buells." Also, the Blast looks stunning naked. I almost don't want to put it back together... I hadn't realized just how much time & effort went into this "starter bike" to make them incredible. And <3 my gf. I'm elbow deep into "her" bike, and she comes out, looks at it, and points to some other stuff (the rear wheel surround) saying, "Does that really need to still be there?" Me: "Nope!" *unscrews & tosses* The more I work on & ride this bike, the more I appreciate it. It's definitely a lot more than a "cheap starter bike" as many people seem to think (including Harley salesmen... "It's OK as a toy, but you really should upgrade her to a Real Motorcycle sometime..." - she's on an XB9 now). |

... got it done. Back from a test ride. The stupid grin will take *hours* to wipe off my face. The difference is incredible! And it's actually not that loud either - with earplugs under my helmet, it's certainly snappy, but not terrible. It's probably still quieter than the XB9 with the Buell Race Exhaust (though to be fair, that one reflects all the sound right up at the rider's head). The tuning is still a bit funky - there are some flat spots. I'm going to take it to a dyno to have it tuned. I'm running 175/48 with the stock needle height at ~5000' with the Jardine & the cone filter. I probably should shim the needle & see how it feels from there. But it's just incredible how much better this bike is now than when I got it (bone stock). I can honestly say I'd daily ride it now. It's that usable. *grins* |

Probably with the stock type airbox a 46 primary would be better - http://www.cv-performance.com/Jets-CVP_Pilot_Jet.h tml A good place for carb parts - good prices as well. EZ |

It's not a stock airbox anymore - it's Dan's intake. So a bent pipe with a K&N hanging off the end. |

Very nice... I replaced the stock needle with the XLH1200 needle (27094-88) as suggested elsewhere. 175/48/XRH1200 needle seems to be quite sweet. This fixed the lacking midrange quite nicely (it's apparently the same effect as shimming, just a needle designed for that profile). I no longer have a "hit" in the last 5mph before redline - it's pulling hard all the way up. *grins* I'll probably get it dynoed next weekend to finalize the tuning. And I still need to pull the idle plug out so I can fine tune the idle mixture. |

Mac Motorcycles Update - November 2011 Inbox x Mac Motorcycles 7:36 AM (2 hours ago) to me Dear Ed So, we're behind schedule but we're close to a running bike now, the prototype bike is back at Harris Performance for a handful of mods to the chassis - things that we've decided we could make a better job of and our perseverance to hide electrical components in every 'nook and cranny' (old English vernacular meaning ; 'a place or part of a place that's especially small or remote') Back in the Spring, we were very flattered to be invited by Revera Entertainment in Los Angeles to film for their series called 'Tech Toys 360' which has just started airing on 'Discovery Velocity' in the US and the History Channel in South America. We accepted the opportunity not only to promote Mac but also to showcase the talents and capabilities of Harris Performance and Xenophya Design, both of whom we've worked very closely with to design and build the prototype motorbike. The series will also be aired on the Discovery Channel in Australia, New Zealand and our very own Dear Ol' Blighty. Here's the details ; Discovery Velocity presents ; 'Tech Toys 360' Mac's featured on Tuesday 22nd November at 8:30pm (episode 9) Here's where you can find more details ; <http://techtoys360.com/episode-9/> http://techtoys360.com/episode-9/ And there's a little more about the filming we did for Revera Entertainment on our blog ; <http://blog.mac-motorcycles.com/> http://blog.mac-motorcycles.com/ Mr Ferret will finish the wiring-harness just as soon as we get the bike back from Harris Performance, Birchills have to fine-tune the exhaust and, together with a couple of bespoke components e.g. primary drive sprocket cover and headlamp brackets, some gas and a spark, we should be close to the first ride. We'd like you take a look at the exhaust pictures on the blog and tell us what you think of the options, styles and finishes we've done so far - please be straight with us... We've had quite a lot of interest from potential distributors and builders in the US and Canada who share our philosophy and have asked about becoming 'Mac-approved'. There are opportunities for both new and established motorcycle businesses to offer our kits to their customers to either assemble themselves or offer an assembly service for those who want a complete bike built to their own specification. If you are interested, please get in-touch and we can talk more. For our fans elsewhere around the world, we'll be able to build complete bikes here in England and ship them to you directly or send kits for final assembly by a Mac-approved workshop in your own country. Prices will reflect your assembly choice, preferred specification and shipping cost, all of which will be clear when we start talking to you about your order. With our best wishes Miss Tracey Price aka. The Glamorous Assistant and the Chaps at Mac Mac Motorcycles Worcester England <http://www.mac-motorcycles.com/> www.mac-motorcycles.com |

I read his profile and it only listed 1 Blast but 3 Buells. I though maybe it was a typo on his part. I also like to poke a little fun at the obsessiveness of some of us Buells owners. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just a wee bit envious of those who also have a Buell twin in their stable. (I'd love to add a white Lightning or TT to my stable). Alas I don't have the money to justify buying a bike that I'll rarely ride (even at fire sale prices). However keeping one I already own is different! Mac: do we know if they are going to be able to get Blast engines in quantity from HD? (pardon if the letter covered that. I'm at the airport and reading is a little tedious on an iPhone and I'm not about to read much of anything twice!) |

Last I heard HD turned them down. But Mac believes there is enough surplus low mileage Blasts out there for doners that getting a motor will not be an issue. |

Also seems a bad business plan to produce a motorcycle using just out of production doner bikes. Wouldnt surprise me if they eventually went with 'something else' if the bike sells. |
