When I picked up my blast it was after I blew the motor on my 86 1100. I had been reading up on Shovester's and pansters and had been thinking that maybe it would work with a blast to give it a different look. I was wondering if anyones thought of this as well or possibly been playing with the idea? when I thought of turbo'ing a blast I met Texas firebolt and he's one cool kat. glad I met him. But also wondering if anyones as psycotic as me and doing a shovelhead blast. lol These were specs I was able to get befor I started working on other things and completely got away from me. this is some information i had found out and was learning alot going to rebump it up too. lol
This is the Specs for my year blast 06 blast Compression: 9.2:1 Bore x stroke: 88.9 x 79.4 mm (3.5 x 3.1 inches) (Evo) 92 fxr Compression: 8.5:1 Bore x stroke: 88.8 x 108.0 mm (3.5 x 4.3 inches) (Shovel) 82 FXR Compression: 7.4:1 Bore x stroke: 88.8 x 108.0 mm (3.5 x 4.3 inches) I am looking for the Panhead Bore x stroke and the knucklehead bore x stroke Found this for the panhead http://www.hydra-glide.com/panhead_facts.php Panhead 61 ci Cylinder bore 3 5/16 Stroke 3 1/2" Found this for the "Flatheads" http://www.flathead-bobbers.com/motorcycles/Harley _Flathead_Models.php
what do you all think? |

Sounds like a lot of work. Anything is possible, its all (to me) which is easier to machine, the rods, the crankshaft, etc.... I've put Panheads on a Shovelhead and guys have done all kinds of crazy things with old Sportsters, but Evo to Evo is a lot easier than going backwards to the iron head stuff. My initial thought was what will fit on the Blast case and how much might you need to machine to get the old style cylinders to fit. Interesting proposition though as there's more than one way to skin a cat! |
