The boot is good no imperfections that I could see and everything seams to be sealing properly. I also do not think it is the tip over ball. the bike was running great before I readjusted the front end. I can check it but im not sure where it is or how to check it lol...
Also I had a guy comment about switching the auto enricher to a manual choke. Has this been done?

I went down to Harbor Fright and picked up the motorcycle stands that are on sale-$25 less 20% with coupon=$20. Not a bad deal for a stand that works! Pick up the front stand apaptors on sale for $5 and you've got a front stand too!
$20 + $20 + $5 = $45 for front and rear stands which will make your life much easier (if you're doing any work or mods)!

They wont last long as I believe they are discontinuing them and they now sell a 'spool' stand for $50 with adapters available to use on a regular swingarm (but no fronts).
As with anything from HF check for missing or bent parts. Both of mine are tweaked a little, but I couldnt beat the price for a spare set of stands.

Crack the gas cap open and see if that solves the problem (BE CAREFUL!). The tipover (rollover) ball closes the gas tank vent.

Details on how to convert the auto choke to manual are here at the Thumper side!

If the 'choke' is stuck on then you shouldnt have any problem pulling away from a stop unless the engine is "loading up" or running super rich where it starts to stall at idle because the plug is fouling. Look for black smoke.

If the 'choke' is stuck off, your bike should run just fine when its warmed up, but be really hard to start cold.

If the 'choke' stuck in the middle you'll experience a combination of the above two scenarios and may not notice anything except poor mpg.

If you are concerned about the AE, unplug it. That can tell you a lot.

Carb choke conversion:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/6812.html?1312950218
Or install a carb from a twin HD/Buell. Same carb (mostly) with a manual choke instead of the AE (which as far as I know is unique to the Blast).

Ok I cracked the gas cap to see if the bike cutting out was caused by the vent line on the gas tank and it did the same thing. Everytime I try taking off from a stop I lay into the throttle and the engine dies. I also unplugged the auto enricher and that didnt change anything either. Its kind of frustrting. Im hopin maybe someone on here can suggest anything else that could cause this.

My next upgrade? Which would be best?

* Jardine Exhaust. $300+
* 515cc package from NRHS $350
* B50 Cams $210

Bike is configured below. I have been reconsidering my exhaust purchase as my next upgrade. I am leaning towards B50 cams next, since the cut corner exhaust is actually working fairly well.

The 515cc package would be the most expensive, and I would probably send the head off to be stage 1 prep for additional $$$

What are everyone's thoughts?

Is the cut-corner exhaust restricting me enough for it to be the next upgrade? I remember moving to SE.497s/N4s on my sportster being a great improvement in the seat of the pants dyno.

2007 Blast, 45/175, Dan's custom intake, Dan's Superboot, superbike bars, corner-cut muffler mod.

Get a cylinder head, an XB head perferably and piston to match. You are looking to increase your flow and compression ratio, plus the valves can handle the higher lift of a B70 cam, which will make more difference in the long run.

Then when you are ready to spend more all you will need is cams, and exhaust.

1 - Jardine + Iridium plug
2 - 515cc kit(plus head work and parts)
3 - B-70 cam with 1.75 Ratio rockers

Concur with Swampy! I'd consider the 515 if you can get it for that price and its NOT USING A CP PISTON (which the NHRS kit does. Get it from Revolution Performance-a Badweb sponsor and it shouldnt have the CP piston*-ask for a price match or Badweb discount-they might). Otherwise, its not worth all that much money for a 3% increase in displacement. You'll gain a bunch with just a high comp piston in a .010 or .015 overbore (which is gonna run $250 - $300 after bore and hone).

XB piston, cylinder head and cams is a far superior set up than a modified Blast top end and it will still get kick ass mpg (and thats with bone stock parts=reliability). But you really need to think about how long you'll keep the Blast and how far you'll want to go with modifications. $1500 can buy you the same horsepower, but one way will be a dead end for further mods and the other way an open door.

B50's are baby cams. They're good with the stock or small diameter exhaust and peak about stock redline. The B70's (or XB cams or SE XL '04 cams, both are comparable to B70's) hit peak after stock redline so you'll need a new ignition module (a Sportster one works well ; )) You'll need a bigger exhaust too. Remember, the Blast isnt a twin, so going for low end torque is a waste. Higher rpms is where the fun is!
I run the B50's to 7500 rpm. They're good. Power drops off before redline, but its all usable. The XB or B70 cams have a kick that'll put a smile on your face though! Spend the time tuning (ask EZ!) and you can really broaden the powerband!

What was the question again......

*CP pistons are fine pistons. I'd still use them in regular overbore sizes. Way too many failures in the 515 kits for them to be considered "bolt on" performance. If you roll the dice, get them tuned in perfectly real quick, they wont last long!

PS the B50's with ratio rockers would be a good choice if you're not going to increase redline (but you will need to clearance the valve guides-the B50 cams lift are the limit for stock Blast guides and springs). Beehive springs are also available for a reasonable price!

Thank you all for the advice and information!

The blast is my second ride. It is something for me to play with/wrench on until my 13yo is street legal. The idea is to keep it for him as his first bike.
So, that being said, I was looking to keep the MPG, but increase the air pump without sacrificing reliability/ride-ability.
I'll probably do the exhaust first, since it has to be done in the long run, while searching for a deal on xb heads(need 3 =) 2 for my sportster!)

I have all the same mods as your existing one's. I added the Jardine RT1 exhaust & have been very pleased w/the results. I installed the "quiet core" as it is a little loud when leaving home @ 0530. it saves a lot of weight over the stock exhaust & is easy to fit.
I was gonna wait until i damaged something badly before modding the actual engine.

I also leave the house at 5:20am in the morning. The roll the sportster to the street to warm her up, as the samson caliper 2 into 1 is loud! With the Blast I have been cranking her and rolling fast idle to the street with the corner cut mod. I think I will get the quiet core as well.

Thanks brother!

hmmm....dont care what the neighbors think. I just dont spend a bunch of time in front of my house warming up my bike. Start it. Back it out. Leave. Take it easy until it warms up. Its not hard to keep a Blast quiet.
Never quite understood the concept of leaving a modern bike idling to let it warm up. No point to it (unless your choke dont work-then fix it).

It's not the immediate neighbors. it's the LEO that lives towards the front of the subdivision I am in. He doesn't seem to have a liking for bikes & he has commented several times re: the noise mine made before the quiet core was installed.
Personally I think he is conflating the X1 & the Blast. I would rather keep him off my back than have him checking everything I do (& don't) do!

Oh, yes, one a-hole is all you need and if they're a LEO or just a prolific liar (thats what I've got), that can be troublesome.

I know Xenox wants to get another Superbrace buy together as they wont just make one!
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/647965.html?1313619963
So if you know any other Blastards who'd like one (who might be on another forum ; )) please let them know.
Its the only Blast specific fork brace I know of and definitely stiffer than the Crossroads brace (which I think is still unavailable).

No need to hurt your brain erik. I fixed the problem. I think there was some crud floating around in my gas tank and plugging the jet. I took the carb off carefully inspected das boot no problems there, then I took the bottom of the carb off and cleaned the slow jet with torch cleaning bits and reinstalled spraying everything good with brake clean. Then installed the in line fuell filter and the tank and wholla! Fixed no more hesitation.
Thanks for the advice. Im going riding!

End of summer!

The nights are getting cooler, the leaves are starting to turn, you can smell the change in the air.
I actually thought about putting stabil in the bikes and preparing a place for winter hibernation.

Summer will be here until November.
Normal service (summer) will be resumed sometime in February next year!
(At least it seems that way if you grew up in the UK)
I hate the heat but I LOVE Florida.

My Jardine RT1 header is: c30 Ins long by 1.6 Ins diameter (width).
These are approximate 'cause I just measured mine on the bike.
