Its the difference between a bike running properly and running very badly. Many people have had a problem using the wrong filter (including me). As always, EZ is on top of it! |

? for swampy, easy or any of you thumpers. It's gussie with the 2ooo Blast with 16,000 mls. Haven't been on in awhile because it just, with reg maintain, keeps running great. Hit that o-so-bad rr trax xing the other nite. Barely moving but stopped me dead. Rode 20 miles home. Got on the next day and noticed vib..Broken tiebar. dropped down good inch, Should I check for trouble around the rear mount for trouble when I get into this thing. Always good to read the forum. Never have much to add but learn alway's. Any new mufflers avail for blaster. thanx guys |

Sounds like the front isolator went, taking out the tiebar. Check that. Rear should be ok and is easy to check once the tank and seat is off. EZ |

thanx ez. Called Harley today. Do they have an official name for the tiebar. He was calling it a stablizor or something. Appreciate your reading. Will tear down and see what's going on. Is this common? |

They have a new isolator - supposed to be much more heavy duty, the bolts also, you'll have to get a new tiebar as well. Mine still looks new after replacing it 6000 miles ago - so I guess it is heavy duty - lol EZ |

Well the 1st part is done, after a 16 hour round trip with 1 blown tire on the suburban I now have a 01 Blast sitting on a trailer at my house. Got the battery on a charger to see if it is recoverable or not and need to get a new rear tire at a minimum. Is it worth hitting the Harley shop for tires or better to shop around a bit? And I have seen various reports on a slightly rear tire being used, did everyone go back to the standard size? |

Blasts recently came with Pirelli MT75 tires, which are head and shoulders better than the old Dumblops. They're available online from lots of vendors. |

Johnk, I too have an 01'. They had issues with the original ignition module. Did the seller give you any history behind the bike to know what was done, if anything? That info will help you to know where to go in dialing it in. I just put an Avon 140/70 on the back of mine and it makes a world of difference from the stock 120/80 and it only cost me $100, new, from my local shop. You may want to go with Pirelli as I have heard they last longer. But Avon is a good tire as well. |

They didn't really say much other then it has a V&H exhaust and that they enjoyed it, they let it sit for awhile and now the battery is dead so I am trying to charge it before going and buying a new one. 5.5k miles with the original rear tire so time for that to get replaced. Then I was going to look into airfilter carb boot and carb rejetting. I have seen the rejet kits but haven't read up on it to see how hard it is to do. Mainly because the V&H exhaust is on so thought I better get it rejetted. :-) Otherwise I want to focus on upgrading lights and mirrors since I will be using at night for commuting. |

New question, trying to find a way to watch the HD Cafe Racer TV show. Seems Season 2 should be out soon but I can't seem to find anyway to watch it. http://www.caferacertv.com |

If you can get a hold of the sellers and ask if they re-jetted the carb it would save the trial and error aspect of finding out. If it runs fine after the battery is charged, they may have re-jetted it already. How many miles on it? |

I had asked when looking on Craigslist and they said it hadn't be rejetted. Right around 5,500 miles, give or take 100. We did start it up and look at it so I was able to verify it wasn't 6k or more. In fact every person who was selling a Blast with an other then stock pipe told me they had not rejetted. |

Johnk, you'll want to re-jet 45 pilot and 175 main I believe for the V&H. I have a Kerker and that worked for me, but to be sure, check out the exhaust section of the forum. You will find everything you need here to adjust to your mods. EZ, Eric(Gearheaderiko), Swampy, and others are the resident pros on this bike when it comes to the various mods that can and have been done. If you can get a manual it will be an even bigger help as I did and have been using it religiously. If I need to question it, they are here to expound on the information that is unclear or has been revised due to error. |

Well looks like battery is completely dead as well. So Battery, tire, carb/intake. Now to find a local source for tire and battery... |

Johnk: Depending on your tools, it might be cheaper to order the tires online & take the wheels off - if you have stands or such... Replace both tires if you weren't considering it - new MT75s front & rear make the bike quite happy! As far as lighting goes, there's really not that much you can do to the Blast. You could probably go with 1125 rear turn signals for more brightness, but there's no uber-bright tail light option I'm aware of (XBLights doesn't make one), and there's not much you can do up front either. |
