I see that uninsulated garage door.....the washer machine sitting in the garage, crap! We have to put them in the house to keep them from freezing and breaking! |

LOL - we try not to die of the heat and enjoy our cool spring weather! LOL - the levers came in, I put em on, they are black on black, so not really photogenic - got the shorties adjusted all the way out - looks nice, completes a modern look. EZ |

Yeah - I'll live with it a while - It still gets that question, and comment - "What kind of bike is that?" - I answer a Buell - and they comment - "Nice Bike!" Happened yesterday on its maiden new look voyage - at a Bank parking lot no less - lol Here's a few of the Blast - Starkiller alone:

Looks good EZ. I love how you scribbled out you Lic. Plate in one photo but forgot to in the other, lol. So I got a question for you on the LED turn signals. I got ahold of some from E-pay and tried installing them. Got the rear ones on when I tried them they and the stock fronts flash quickly. Then when I installed the fronts all I got was a tone and a solid light, no flashing at all. Any suggestions? |

Yeah - I got that problem finally solved cheaply! http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores /servlet/product__5081335-P_121_R|GRPLAMPAMS - way cheaper than anybody else and works on all LED and regular systems. http://www.amazon.com/Tridon-EP36-Flasher/dp/B00064LQLC EZ (Message edited by ezblast on March 22, 2011) |

Or for $100 more, you could install a "Signal Minder" and have running lights, emergency flashers and self canceling turn signals! And the tail looks good EZ. |

This is what the dark side is all about - taking something that has never ran better and modifying just because: a) You know the modification will achieve the results you want - protection against any lean conditions, and b) Will further improve acceleration - through more even fuel metering. So I am putting the carb once again under the knife so to speak, because of a recent incident. After finishing the mods for the bike I filled up at a Chevron primo, left and zoomed up a very steep grade on the way to church, and then a long ride home - no problem, no down shifting - could have taken bike all the way to its limiter - no problem. With my jetting and the last dyno - I should be between 13.5 and 14 af. The other day I filled up with Shell primo and actually had to shift down, and got that lean reaction when you let off the gas of more power delivered - wow - so I went over the bike - intake coupler, etc., all is good, bike felt fine in city, and then I put some boost in, no problem, could do the incline - maybe bad gas, maybe the alcohol in the gas reacting due to Shell's additives - dunno, but I do know that I refuse to loose another motor to a lean condition. So the Dark side called and I listened - lol. Therefor I shall install a Dial A Jet by Thunder Products, not only will this give me protection from an overly lean condition, it will also improve my acceleration, and improve my gas mileage - the hot-rod was 15 mpg better than my daily rider. I can count on Chevron to make sure the gas works right, but obviously not all the other distributors, so for me preventive measurements are called for. This is why my original signature reads: Got Thump? Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ (Message edited by ezblast on April 30, 2011) |

Got her done and the first long test ride was very good - adjusted idle down about 40 rpm, took it up and down the motor's range - stopped for gas, usually where the float will react if tweaked - no fuel pouring out - float good, no leaks detected, and yes throttle response is improved! Thanks Dan for making me revisit an old modification, and find out how well it will work for a stock configured engine. Now I look forward to a significant increase in gas mileage and my worries about a lean condition nuking my motor are over! That's what the Dark side is all about - practical improvements that also increase performance! EZ |

So does that mean you have the "Thunderjet" on one bike and the "Dial-a-Jet" on the other? |

So you have a Thunder Jet and DAJ on the same carb? |

No - I see where the mix up is though - Thunder Products Makes Dial-A-Jet, where as the Thunder Jet Kit is Sold by Thunder Jets Inc. - lol - but I've always liked the DAJ, it went the distance easily on the Fast hotrod, and I'm sure I'll get the same reliability on the daily rider. I'll do some pics, after the long distance ride to test top end a tad - lol - Correction - Thunder Products makes both, the DAJ has an extra fuel meter that adds for more fuel on engine demand and protecting against a lean conditions, where as a TJ is just a better performance fuel metering system standing alone - a DAJ would be a high end TJ. Went a click richer on the DAJ - wow! - Thomas who had just tried the bike tried it after the DAJ as well, with it in the middle position - the one step leaner giving a slight pop - on coasting decel - but on that middle position - wow - that was quite an increase - Thomas was looking at the bike and shaking his head - "Now that was fun!" I replied, "And my mileage will improve!" That got him looking even harder - lol EZ |

I've come to appreciate the Blast more ever since I got the X1! Not that the X1 isn't fun..but the fun factor on the Blast is..quite distinct. The steering is so light and the bike flicks around like a bicycle and it can move when you need to. Both bikes bring a smile to my face, for quite separate reasons! |

Yeah - the Blast has definitely earned a place in my heart as far as riding experiences go. Funny thing is, it is the riders as well who have kept me going on this bike as well, by inspiring me, when my own energy is lagging or distracted. People like ErikO, Swampy, Thumpe, Maggie, BritChris, Nance, BeLinda, etc. and the new folks - helpful, insightful, and always positive - I ask myself, are all riders like this - sadly enough the answer is no, however, Buell Blast riders are and I think that is because of the example these people have put forward in a willingness to connect and help other Blast riders enjoy their bike as well. In the end it is all about enjoying the ride, and it has been my fellow Blastards that have helped make that ride totally enjoyable! I'll never be able to say thank you enough for that. EZ |

Not sure I should be listed there EZ... However, I have finally roused myself to attempt the resurrection of my Blast. I ordered a new super boot from Thumpe & a rebuild kit for the carb'. all I need now is an overcast 80 deg weekend day and the motivation to sweat of 10 lbs in the garage fixing it. Leonard; The Blast complements the X1 well & vice versa. i enjoy riding both but for different reasons! later... Chris C |

Old Friend The last bolt tightened, I wipe off some dirt with my shirt. I mumble to myself, “I don’t ride you enough, not at all.” Eleven years by my side, and today we shall night ride! My leathers creak as I pull them on, all in black, I’m back. Gloves pulled, helmet cinched, petcock turned, key as well. Every scratch I know, every fix I have done, a button pushed. She roars to life, her black soul purrs contentedly – an evil sound. Click, we are off, she glides smooth and sleek, totally unique. Sculpted by time, a mind, and evil intent – she flies easily. More elemental than machine, she dances each corner effortlessly. They said she would never dance, would never fly, could never be. They were wrong, she grew with me, we race the wind and play. Her lights bright, the test a success, my heart quiets with her song. I wonder how long she will live, even perfection does not last. Pulling in, a smile on my face, I mumble, “Damn, that was fun!” In that moment I am glad old friend, and you are beautiful. Motorcycles are made for the moment, in the end that’s all we have. EZ |
